app marketing is weird everyone says “optimize your ads” then feeds Meta/TikTok the weakest possible signal: install not trial not paid subscriber not revenue not “this user is actually worth money” just install then founders wonder why campaigns bring cheap users who never pay i’m building AppSprint because i’m tired of this AppSprint tracks the full path: ad click → install → trial → subscription → revenue then sends the useful events back to the ad platforms so the algorithm learns from people who buy, not people who just tap download building this in public here expect: - app growth experiments - attribution rabbit holes - podcast lessons from app builders - client feedback - messy product decisions if you run paid ads for a subscription app, i want your feedback

@upbeat_dev It’s using the same underlying data set. As long as you are currently also sending purchase events it’s fine.

Still experimenting google ads 😅 Should I change conversion event to purchase? These numbers are from today so far. They are very good for Google Ads, and my conversion event is a critical event that shows user intent. I read somewhere that after some time, the conversion event can be changed to purchase, but it makes me think it will break the current data. Any idea?

Hey, Google Ads app campaign experiment update here. 3 days ago, I tripled my daily budget. It made me lose a bit more. Between May 1st–21st, I spent $407, but got only $391 back. After commissions, taxes, etc., I will get around $225. Nearly a $9 loss per day. I accept that because I feel like I’m getting some organic installs as well. I can accept that daily loss. I will monitor it a bit more and share updates with you.

Oh, since when is Google valued more ($4.6T) than Amazon ($2.8T) and Meta ($1.5T), combined? Especially curious, given Meta is on track to generate more ads revenue than Google later this year.

the average app has 5x more churned users than active users by month 6 and almost none of them have a re-engagement email campaign easiest 10% retention lift you'll ever ship and literally takes 1 day to build

Status has raised $17M in seed and Series A funding led by @AbstractVC, @generalcatalyst and @usv to let anyone step inside their favorite stories, become famous, and live a million different lives. We quietly launched Status last year and grew to over 1 million users in 19 days - making us the fastest growing AI app since ChatGPT. But we hit a (predictable) snag - the app was incredibly expensive to run. How do you serve millions of users without degrading the product with a cheap LLM? So the team locked in: we rebuilt the whole experience, and our technical bets paid off. Our users now spend 35 minutes on average to (90 minutes each day for power users!), and millions of characters and worlds have been created. All by our users. The next frontier of entertainment is mobile-first and deeply personal. Traditional mobile games take years to build and rarely stick. TV shows are fleeting in the age of streaming. Status is different. It is not a game you finish, it is a world you can live in. Status is a new category entirely: Immersive Social Entertainment, and we believe strongly that it is the next great entertainment paradigm. We’ve 10x’d to millions in annual revenue in Q1 2026, we're just getting started. On Status, you can be anyone.

It's no secret I don't like subscriptions (I guess nobody does) and I personally avoid all apps with that business model and never implemented in own apps. Reading this post made me realise that what I really hate is the hidden costs of subscriptions, not paying monthly per se. Most apps business model is you forgetting about the payment. They build a fortune on parasitic behaviour, sucking money from you while providing zero value. I want to experiment with auto-unsubscribe on my own apps. Simple concept, if you have not open the apps for X days your subscriptions gets cancelled instead of renewed.
Will@athcanft

this guy pays $7.99 a week and hasn’t opened the app in 5 months this is the unspoken truth of the subscription economy retention is a suckers game for b2c apps, distribution is the moat
