@rdgarcia03 Unfortunately common sense and logic is not received very well on this platform. It's unfortunate some of that is coming from existing members of the SREC whose job it is to grow the party.

Burrows is going to be the speaker nominee of the GOP caucus (and it won’t even be close) and will be elected speaker again (this time without Democrat votes). What will the rage bots shriek about then? Getting elected speaker in opposition to the majority of the GOP caucus sets a really bad precedent and could seriously undermine conservatives in the future….especially if the GOP margin in the House is smaller and someone like Ken King and a handful of the most liberal Republicans might be tempted to team up with the Democrats. We don’t want to be in a situation where King, Darby, Geren, et al can hold the rest of the caucus hostage….which is why it’s so critical to 1) Strengthen the GOP majority 2) Replace moderates with conservatives in primaries But for now….what we got with a Burrows speakership was exactly what we would’ve gotten with a David Cook speakership: A LOT better than Phelan but still not nearly far enough or fast enough. You can recognize the progress and fight for more or you can rage online.

I’m connected to almost all of the candidates at a lot of who I believe you would frequent also. I don’t know Ms. Hopper because she is newer to a lot of this. One website lays it out clearly that the main priority is closing the primary and in your interview today, Ms. Hopper specifically stated their two priorites which is what I referenced.

@steingopchair We aren't connected so perhaps we don't frequent the same spaces, but that's all they're talking about. Obviously they can't take sides in the primary/runoffs but everything has been about the midterms for months.

Am I the only one looking for one of our State Chair or Vice Chair candidates to provide a plan for winning elections in November? The two priorities I hear from this post are close the primaries (which after the May 26 runoff isn't until March 2028 and eliminate property taxes (which will be taken up by the Governor and State Legislature in the next session (January 2027). Nothing different from any other camp either. The general election is about five months away and no candidate is talking about this. It's time to show you are serious about what this job is. A lot of “data” is either fake or presented to you in a manipulative way. When Derek presents and talks data, it’s just the facts. You should listen.
