♻️Awareness Program on Solid Waste Management Rules – 2026 To strengthen the effective implementation of Solid Waste Management in the city, ensure proper compliance with the rules, and encourage active citizen participation, a discussion program on Solid Waste Management Rules – 2026 was organised today (18-04-2026) at the Town Hall by BSWML. Citizens, RWAs, NGOs, members of the Hotel Association, and officials of BSWML participated in the program. On the occasion, Sri Karee Gowda, CEO of BSWML, welcomed the participants. Ms. Ramamani, Chief Operating Officer, briefed the gathering about the responsibilities of citizens, bulk waste generators, processors, and government authorities. Presentations were delivered by Ms. Malini, Ms. Sowmya, Dr. Shanthi, Ms. Arthi, representatives from SWMRT, Mr. Satish (BAF), Ms. Padma (Koramangala RWA), Ms. Odette (Beautiful Bharat), and urban practitioner KK Pandey, among others. They highlighted best practices in waste management, the role of communities, and practical measures that can be adopted across the city. The meeting also emphasised the importance of four-way waste segregation, segregation at source, recycling, and scientific processing of waste. Apartment complexes, commercial establishments, and bulk waste generators were urged to strictly comply with the rules. BSWML has appealed to all citizens to segregate waste at source, avoid littering in public spaces, and extend full cooperation to the waste management system in order to make the city cleaner, greener, and more sustainable. 🌱♻️ #GreaterBengaluruAuthority #BSWML #DKShivakumar #gbachiefcommissioner #swmrules @DKShivakumar @GBAChiefComm @KareeGowda_IAS

BSWML Townhall on SWM Rules 2026 today. Kautilya prescribed Sama → Dana → Bheda → Danda. BSWML has created a new model: Danda and Bheda - first, and then Dana and Sama. Confusing notices and threats — and now the Townhall? Maybe today’s meeting is where Sama should have started. Solid Waste Management isn’t just “4 bins – 4 ways.” It requires systems, infrastructure and accountability. Regulators should lead the ecosystem — not just issue commands. And by the way… where is the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board? #EaseOfLiving @bswml_gba @kareegowda @Chairman_KSPCB @karnatakakspcb @swaccha_bbmp

BAF team met the Chief Commissioner, GBA Shri Maheshwara Rao, IAS, on concerns around the defective SWM framework and the user fee via property tax. Raised key issues: - Apartments cannot be treated differently from individual homes -Unnecessary and unwarranted burden of GST on SWM only for Apartments must be removed - Individual waste-weighing at every collection point is impractical. Also flagged threatening notices under SWM Rules 2026 despite systems not being in place and lack of stakeholder consultation. Concerns were noted and taken up for consideration. We thank the Chief Commissioner for giving his time. @GBAChiefComm @GBA_office @munishmody @comm_blr_south @BECCUPDATES @BNCCofficial @BWCCofficial @BCCCofficial @KareeGowda_IAS @BSWML_GBA

What a heartwarming display of kindness in Bengaluru at 3 AM ❤️ Aishwarya had just landed at the airport and travelled by BMTC bus to Kadugodi, only to find herself stranded and alone with no taxi available. Two compassionate strangers showed true humanity: the caring BMTC bus conductor stayed with her until she felt safe, and a thoughtful Rapido driver safely dropped her home refusing any excess fare and putting her well-being first. In a moment when fear could have taken over, this kindness restored faith in our city. Bengaluru, you continue to shine with such beautiful souls. This is exactly why we love and cherish you ❤️ #NammaBengaluru #WomenSafety #SafestBengaluru #Humanity @seemantsingh96

We sincerely thank Hon’ble Dy Chief Minister Shri D. K. Shiva kumar for bringing the KAOMA discussion in the Karnataka State Assembly. We also express our appreciation to the Hon’ble Chief Minister and officials of the Urban Development Department and the Department of Parliamentary Affairs for their sustained efforts over the past several years in shaping this important legislation. #KAOMA moving towards an Ordinance is a welcome step, but it must now translate into timely action. We thank Shri R. Ashok, Dr. C. N. Ashwath Narayana, Shri S. R. Vishwanath, Shri Ravi Subramanya, Shri Suresh Kumar, Shri Gopinath Reddy and many MLAs of the state. @osd_cmkarnataka @siddaramaiah @DKShivakumar @HKPatilINC @RAshokaBJP @drashwathcn @Ravi_LA @SRVishwanathBJP @Gopinath Reddy @nimmasuresh

@osd_cmkarnataka @siddaramaiah @DKShivakumar @HKPatilINC @drashwathcn @SRVishwanathBJP @Sri Gopinath Reddy @GBA_office @GBAChiefComm @rajeevgowda @shalinirajnish We welcome the Hon’ble Dy CM’s commitment to #KAOMA. However, the delay in tabling the Bill is a matter of concern for apartment residents in Karnataka. Consultations with MLAs must translate into time-bound action. Apartment communities need clarity, not uncertainty—without an updated legal framework, governance and dispute resolution challenges persist. The Bengaluru Apartments Federation (BAF) remains committed to working constructively with the government to ensure KAOMA, along with its Rules and Model Bye-laws, is implemented effectively in the larger public interest. We Thank all the representatives who highlighted the need for the act.

SEQUENCING INFRASTRUCTURE (a) It's not clear whether the 450-cr ORR improvement works can begin before Metro Blue line is operational. If it's sequenced right, then the Metro can provide some carrying capacity which can offset some of the inevitable chaos that will result from construction. (b) It's not clear whether Sarjapur Road improvement has to wait for the ORR work to be completed or whether the two can go hand in hand. And what if Red Line Metro doesn't happen? Will that scrap Metro on Sarjapur Road too, or can that be done as part of the Blue Line extension instead? (something like this is about to happen on Magadi Road with the Orange Line). (c) On any new stretch of Metro, should a set of on-ground improvements be carried out first before the Metro work begins? At Vega Mall, Delmia Jn, Puttenahalli Underpass, Sarakki, Hosakerahalli, etc. can the junction work of Metro be done in a sequence that does not block all north-south traffic at the same time? Without looking at the full picture and sequencing the work accordingly, we've been doing lots of things in bits and pieces. The result is chaos everywhere. That has to change.
