@JonFlynnREstats If your friend has not re-signed a lease every year for years 2-8, then he’s likely on a month-to-month tenancy, and in most areas, with 30 days notice, the landlord can change his rent

Spoke to a friend today, he’s been renting a place for 8 years, paying $1,125/mo. Landlord emailed him tells him he wants $1,725/mo and if he doesn’t like it he can move out. I told him to email the landlord back and tell him to check the rules.

Another day of my Tesla driving me smoothly, safely, and effortlessly through Los Angeles while I sat back and relaxed. I didn't have to buy gas at $6 a gallon, I just plugged in when I got home. Why is it that the greatest product I've ever owned faces so much hatred and resistance the forces of the status quo at every angle? Why do so many people lie and try and keep the public from technology that could change their lives for the better? Every time I see a Tesla on the street I smile knowing how hard TSLAQ fought to wipe this company off the face of the earth, and how hard we fought back for a crazy dream that has now become a vivid reality.

I really don’t understand how someone making sub 150k in the USA doesn’t leave for Thailand / Vietnam / etc USA at that pauper pay rate is basically indentured servitude for 40 years and die Your quality of life will increase DRAMATICALLY leaving

$5,000/month USD is around $155,000/month in Thailand. That’s luxury condo, daily massages, great food, zero stress. You’re not rich in the West… but you live like a king in Thailand. Now you understand why people are moving there.

Rivian Universal Hands-Free vs Tesla Self-Driving This was my first time testing Rivian's new Universal Hands-Free, and I was honestly surprised by how it performed. I understand this is their first attempt and it will only improve from here, but truthfully, it is worse than any version of FSD or Autopilot I have ever used. I respect Rivian as a company, but I always try to remain unbiased in my opinions, so here are my unfiltered thoughts on where UHF stands today. Hoping to test it more as the system receives major updates! Hope you all enjoy the video. Manager: I have you scheduled for a meeting at 7 PM tomorrow. Gen Z: Is my attendance mandatory? Manager: Yes, we’re working with a client in another time zone. Gen Z: Okay, I’m happy to shift my hours to accommodate. Manager: Excuse me, no—you still start at 8 AM. Gen Z: If I’m working in the evening, then I’ll start later in the day. Manager: Okay, don’t watch the clock at this company. We work when we need to work. Gen Z: I’m contracted and paid for 40 hours a week, so that is what I work. Manager: That’s a career-limiting move. Tomorrow is a busy day; I’ll need you to start right promptly at 8:00 AM. Gen Z: Alright then, I will take the lieu time later this week. Manager: Again, that’s not how we operate at this company. You work hard when you need to, and you don’t watch the clock. Gen Z: Again, I work for the hours I’m paid for, and since overtime is not an option, I’ll go ahead and adjust my hours this week to accommodate the shift in the schedule. Manager: You’re not quite understanding the company culture we have here—we work all the time. Gen Z: And you’re not understanding that just because that is the way you do things does not mean that is how I’m required to do things as well. Manager: (Silence)

In 2003, Bank of America forced its IT workers to train their H-1B replacements or lose their severance. On April 17, Kevin Flanagan was let go after seven years at the bank. He never left the parking lot. His father Tom gave one interview. "He knew for a year that Bank of America was dumping programmers and tech people, and he knew it was coming. And he knew people from India were brought into his building and trained to do his job and sent back to New Delhi." In 2024 they laid off more than 10,000 American workers across technology and back-office divisions. The same year they filed 790 new H-1B visa applications.

Investing isn’t hard. It was just explained poorly. Open a Roth IRA. Invest $500 to $650 a month. Buy VOO and QQQ. Stay consistent and let compound interest do the heavy lifting. Night gang.

I honestly just want to be a SAHM and work on my weird side projects while raising kids at this point. I never signed up for this feminism independence crap that was force fed down my throat all my life that taught me to hate men when I was young and traumatized. My mom tells me financial dependence is too dangerous. She has always told me that. I’d like to believe good traditional men still exist, but I do understand my rebellious nature brings out the controlling side in most of the men I date. I don’t know what to do. I want to live my own life, but I know the risks of financial dependence she warns about are real, I’ve lived them. I barely escaped with my life. So the controlling reaction to my rebelliousness makes me run, every time. I wish I could just find someone who would let me be free as a flower in the wind and accepted me that way, even better if they could love me that way. Feels impossible to find these days. Being a SAHM doesn’t have to be lame. I’ll never be a suburban housewife, but I can enjoy a life that feels free where my femininity, artsy, nurturing, curious, playfulness can shine instead of having to be suppressed to protect myself from men, can’t I?
