@threejs It has been useful to understand if my app was "shader-bound" (by comparison with MeshStandardMaterial), I might have used it as a fallback on low-end devices at some point... But to be honest, I prefer MeshToonMaterial with a linearly interpolated gradient instead lol 🤷🏻♂️

Simple demo scene was surprisingly simple to throw together, using #r3f, react-three-rapier(@etthugo) and some math from @iced_coffee_dev 's excellent yt series on character controllers

I already tried pointing some bones at the aim direction, but it conflicted with other ongoing animations 😕
My next plan was to update a dynamic AnimationClip instead of directly updating bones 🤷🏻♂️ dunno if that would work...
