A couple I know just started a CPG company together, and they’re the only two employees because AI basically runs the whole thing. It’ll optimize Facebook ads, project the ROI, and proactively say things like “I think you should turn off the ads because you’re running low on inventory which means you’ll be out of stock if you keep running ads.” The AI also handles most of the customer service inquiries.

Is there an underrated aspect where LLMs becoming increasingly superhuman at obviously heavily g-loaded tasks, while the physical world stays broadly unchanged, should actually be updating us in favor of the “world transformation isn’t actually intelligence bottlenecked” hypothesis? Possibly to a sufficient extent that it nets to longer timelines despite capability progress?
Like if tomorrow we actually put the country of geniuses in the datacentre then clearly P(transformative change soon) is higher, but if after a year the physical world looks broadly the same then P(transformative change soon) is probably lower, and possibly lower than before the unveiling
