Ultra-cheap Chinese solar panels, falling battery costs, rising diesel prices, blackouts, and tariff pressure accelerated adoption at remarkable speed. If current trends continue, Pakistan could eventually emerge as: a major decentralized solar economy, a regional laboratory for off-grid energy innovation, and a model for energy-poor nations seeking alternatives to expensive fossil-fuel dependency. The broader implications are enormous: reduced pressure on fuel imports, lower long-term energy costs, improved rural electrification, increased energy independence, and new opportunities in batteries, storage, local manufacturing, and smart-grid technologies. Most importantly, this transition highlights something often underestimated about Pakistan: its people possess remarkable adaptive resilience under pressure. When systems fail, society improvises. Pakistan may be accidentally building one of the world’s first decentralised #solar economies. The craziest part? Real scale barely shows in official stats. Imported 51.5 GW solar panels by late 2025—nearly = entire grid. Yet registered net-metered rooftop solar just 5.3–6.8 GW. What makes this story so extraordinary is the speed. This increasingly looks less like a normal energy transition and more like large-scale consumer-led grid defection. And economics is driving nearly all of it. Electricity tariffs surged. Diesel prices climbed. Blackouts remained common. Meanwhile ultra-cheap Chinese solar panels and falling battery prices made self-generation economically irresistible. So millions effectively made the same calculation: Generate your own power, or remain trapped inside an expensive and unstable system. Once solar becomes cheaper than the grid itself, adoption can move faster than governments, utilities and even official statistics can keep up with. This isn’t gradual transition by any stretch. It may ultimately become a blueprint for how energy-poor nations break free from legacy old-world energy systems dominated by fossil fuels and increasingly expensive centralised power. It’s decentralisation at escape velocity. This is #Bettrification.

We are talking about ethnicity not religion. Hazaras in Afghanistan,Pakistan,India,Tajikistan,Uzbekistan and Iran divided in Three Mazhab(Sunni, Shia, Ismaili), but I got som of them in Kashmir they are Hindu. As well in Europe, USA ,Australia and some other countries they are Christian and other religions.

Punjab killings eventually eclipsed everyone else.. started with massacres of Sikhs by Muslims, but eventually the Sikh's massacred Muslims with the most terrifying efficiency in east Punjab.. probably the highest death toll was there. Both East and West Punjab were almost completely "religiously cleansed" by Sikhs and Muslims respectively. Except in malerkotla, where the Sikhs kept to their word and rewarded the sympathy shown to the sahibzades by the Muslim nawab there in the 1700s.. Sikh memory can be very strong indeed.. in the other direction, my grandfather noted that even in his time (the 1930s) Sikhs from our area would still pick up bricks if they passed by the ruins of sirhind, just to make the destruction of that city more complete.. revenge for what happened to the sahibzadas..

@MDUmairKh Bengalis were so opposed to Urdu that most of them that I met abroad try speaking Urdu with us as they learnt it from Bollywood films and Pakistani dramas.

"Urdu was forced on Bengalis, and they broke away." 🤣🤣🤣 Prominent Bengali politicians like Suhrawardy and Nazimuddin supported the idea of Urdu being the State Language. They discussed it in the constituent assembly before allowing Jinnah to announce it in Dhaka. Bengalis broke away because it's idiotic to have half of your country on the other side of the continent. It was never going to work, hence the mention of two states in the Lahore Resolution and the Cabinet Mission Plan. It was grouped with Pakistan at the last minute because some thought Karachi was needed as a replacement for Calcutta (an economic hub), which Mountbatten gave to Hindustan. West Pakistan still did what it could, including reducing the required height for joining the military so Bengalis could join, making Bengali the national language and other stuff, but there was no similarity between the two regions. Plus, Mujeeb also worked for the Soviets, and later Pakistan hit the Soviets back by siding with the USA during its Afghan "invasion". So there was more at play than simple misunderstandings. That, plus the post-election fiasco and other issues I mentioned, led to separation. Your views are very simplistic. Ironically, none of Mujeeb's six points mentioned anything about Urdu either. He never said he wanted separation because of Urdu. It was about decentralisation (on paper). Once, he was used, his own comrades sh0t him like a dog. Urdu was never an issue in our (West) Pakistan and will never be. Keep crying.
