🇺🇸The United States is stepping up to lead the fight against the New World Screwworm (NWS), a ruthless, border-crossing parasite threatening livestock, wildlife, and food security across the Americas. Yesterday at @FAO, Dr. Heather Walden from @UF Veterinary Medicine delivered a guest lecture sharing the latest research and insights on this devastating threat. The takeaway? Stopping NWS will require unified international action: aligning surveillance, rapid response, and eradication efforts across borders. Stay informed👉Screwworm.gov

The United States is leading the way in sharing expertise to stop the spread of New World Screwworm and protect animal health, food security, and our agricultural economy. 🐄 In partnership with @IAEATC, we brought Dr. Heather Walden of the University of Florida to engage the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre experts, impacted Member States, and regional partners across the Western Hemisphere. By advancing tools like the Sterile Insect Technique using nuclear technology and convening the various stakeholders, we are working together to contain and eradicate this threat! Stronger regional cooperation means a safer, more secure, and more prosperous 🇺🇸. @iaeaorg @IAEATC @State_IO

Scientific experts gathered this week for a technical panel on regional strategies for New World screwworm suppression and eradication in Central America and Mexico. @IAEAorg and @FAO are supporting countries to respond to a recent New World screwworm outbreak.

The United States’ commitment to the nuclear testing verification regime is EXTREME!  Our experts endured a physically and technically daunting expedition to establish an infrasound station at the remote Palmer Station in Antarctica. This is what TRANSPARENCY looks like. #USA #DTRA @uafairbanks @doddtra
CTBTO@CTBTO

#CTBTO seismoacoustic engineer Gregory Brenn and the engineering team from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, supported by crew from the S/V Pelagic 77 Amundsen, managed the challenging voyage through the Drake Passage to install the final infrasound station on Antarctica, and what will be the last of the 39 facilities in the United States. And they did it in just 20 days. 🚢 Despite variable weather, brash ice, and curious wildlife 🐧, the team worked tirelessly to install the first four elements before the Antarctic winter sets in. With #infrasound data now flowing to the #IDC 📡 for testing we hope IS54 will soon join certified stations AS106 and RN73 at Palmer Station and play a critical role in enhancing nuclear test explosion detection capabilities for years to come. Sincere thanks to #USA, @doddtra and @uafairbanks

America First means having the best experts at the table. Congratulations to Professor Virginia “Patt” Prugh on her recent election to the @CND_tweets expert panel. A former @USArmy lawyer and @StateDept senior attorney, Professor Prugh will help ensure international drug control treaties respect 🇺🇸sovereignty and deliver results that benefit the American people.

America secured a major win at #CND69 this week with the election of U.S. candidate Professor Patt Prugh to the expert panel reviewing implementation of the international drug control framework. This is exactly why 🇺🇸 leadership in the UN system matters: to help steer the panel in the right direction, defend U.S. interests, uphold the conventions, and block efforts to dilute the international drug control system. @StateINL @State_IO

Fraud drains billions from the formal economy, fuels organized crime, and steals from Americans.  Through President Trump’s Executive Order 14390, we will take the fight to fraudsters.  Kicking off @UNODC and @INTERPOL_HQ’s #GlobalFraudSummit today, Deputy Assistant Secretary David Bedard of @StateINL signed a Call to Action on Combating Fraud and called on countries and the private sector to step up the fight. @State_IO whitehouse.gov/presidential-a…

.@USAmbUN: I think @POTUS is calling upon the world, saying that Iran can't hold your economies hostage, & we certainly welcome and encourage their participation to help their own economies. Meanwhile, our military will continue to destroy Iran's forces to keep the straits open.

China, the world’s largest producer of fentanyl precursors, was the ONLY country to vote NO against a U.S. resolution passed today preventing the sale of precursors and pill presses to drug traffickers. Inaction speaks for itself: China continues to be unwilling to stop its companies from flooding the world with deadly drugs.

America led, and the world followed. At #CND69, the United States won the vote for (only CHINA voted against) and secured adoption of our historic resolution on supply chain integrity to stop criminals from exploiting global commerce to move deadly drugs. We will keep leading the fight to choke off these poisons and protect 🇺🇸 lives. @StateINL @State_IO @ONDCP @UNODC Read our statement on our resolution here: vienna.usmission.gov/u-s-statement-…

The drone strike in Goma today killed a UN worker and at least two civilians, adding to the tragic loss of life that continues to impact countless civilians in eastern DRC.  We offer our sincerest condolences to their families and colleagues and urge all parties to uphold protection of UN and humanitarian personnel. Attacks in civilian areas are unacceptable. The United States expects all parties to the conflict to uphold their commitments.

At the 70th @UN_CSW, the United States voted against efforts to use the UN as a platform for controversial social policies that infringe upon national sovereignty. The U.S. rejects the use of international forums to redefine the biological reality of our citizens. We are refocusing the @UN agenda to be about women and girls—not subjective notions of gender identity. It’s time to get the Commission on the Status of Women #backtobasics.

At a U.S.-hosted #CND69 side event, @ONDCP Director Sara Carter and @SecRubio’s Special Representative Cart Weiland delivered a clear message: confronting transnational criminal organizations requires more action. The United States is leading with key European and Latin American partners to defeat narcotraffickers and protect 🇺🇸 American communities. @StateINL @State_IO @ONDCP
