I welcome Prime Minister @narendramodi finally opening his mouth on the proposed delimitation exercise. This sudden concern for “reassuring” southern states appears less like statesmanship and more like election-driven messaging, timed conveniently with political calculations in states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Let us be clear: the issue has never been about whether the number of Lok Sabha seats of southern states increases. The concern is about how they increase - and who benefits disproportionately. Under the proposed expansion, while every state may see an increase, the rate and scale of increase clearly favour BJP-dominated states. Uttar Pradesh is expected to go from 80 to 120 seats (+40), Maharashtra from 48 to 72 (+24), Bihar from 40 to 60 (+20), Madhya Pradesh from 29 to 43–44 (+14–15), Rajasthan from 25 to 37–38 (+12–13), and Gujarat from 26 to 39 (+13). In contrast, southern states see smaller gains. Karnataka rises from 28 to 42 (+14), Tamil Nadu from 39 to 58–59 (+20), Andhra Pradesh from 25 to 37–38 (+12–13), Telangana from 17 to 25–26 (+8–9), and Kerala from 20 to 30 (+10). The numbers are telling. Five southern states together gain barely 63–66 additional seats, while just these seven BJP-dominated states gain about 128–131 seats - nearly double. Even after expanding the Lok Sabha to 816 seats, the collective share of southern states remains around 24% - unchanged and already modest. States that performed better in population control and governance are being penalised, and Karnataka - a key driver of national growth - risks being deliberately sidelined. If our share does not improve while the numerical dominance of larger states grows, what exactly is Karnataka gaining from this exercise? The result is a widening imbalance. Today, Uttar Pradesh has 52 more seats than Karnataka - this gap will increase to 78. Maharashtra’s lead over Karnataka will expand from 20 to 30 seats. This is not just expansion; it is concentration of power. This is not cooperative federalism - this is another blatant assault on federalism, designed to concentrate power and silence states like Karnataka. Having failed to win the trust of southern people, the Modi Government is now attempting to weaken our voice through a manipulative restructuring of representation. Such a structural change cannot be pushed without consultations or public debate. At a time of economic and global challenges, the Union Government is more focused on political arithmetic over national priorities. The people of Karnataka - and all who believe in federalism - deserve fairness, respect, and transparency. We will firmly oppose any attempt to weaken our voice. #BJPFailsIndia #Delimitation

Mysuru Land Mafia: Ayuz Pasha Gang Accused of Threatening Hindu Family Over 20-Acre Plot There are protests on the outskirts of Mysuru over allegations of land grabbing and criminal intimidation by a local Hindu family. The family, which owns a prime 20-acre land parcel, said it wants to lodge a protest against a gang of crime on that land and to take swift legal action against Ayuz Pasha.The victims have claimed that the gang is using muscle power and life threats to force them into surrendering their ancestral property valued at several crores of rupees.According to the family’s complaint filed earlier this month, the harassment began a couple weeks ago when henchmen associated with Ayuz Pasha started trespassing on the property. The family said the gang has set up temporary sheds and brought in heavy machinery to clear the land, even though the family has all valid legal documents and “Pahani” (land records) proving their ownership.The situation worsened earlier this week, when members of the Pasha-led group allegedly entered the family’s home. The victims said they were held at knifepoint and were given a chilling ultimatum: surrender the 20-acre plot or face “dire consequences” including death.The family is deeply scared - the gang seems to be operating with impunity, they said. “They told us that no one can stop them and that we should take whatever pittance they offer and leave the city,” a family member said.Local leaders have said it’s a classic case of “Land Jihad” or mafia-style extortion aimed at taking advantage of vulnerable landowners. Mysuru City Police should investigate whether this is an isolated incident or part of a bigger, organized racket which is seeking to take agricultural and other peripheral land in the city’s fast moving areas.Following the outcry, a senior official from the Mysuru District Police confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including: Section 329: Criminal intimidation. Section 331: Larceny or criminal trespass. Section 351: Assault or criminal force. We are currently verifying the land documents provided by the complainants and looking into the criminal background of Ayuz Pasha and his associates, the officer said. This has been the experience for many accounts across the opposition ecosystem including mine. It is a well known toolkit where coordinated mass reporting of posts and accounts often leads to limited visibility and de-ranking in feeds. Now whether reach and follower count is being restricted by @X on its own volition or at someone’s behest, is anybody’s guess. Either way, it would be a welcome move for X to examine this more closely. @elonmusk @XCorpIndia
