Iran just showed the world why Bitcoin is the hardest money.
A student wakes up in Tehran and the phone is dead. Not “slow.” Dead. Iran is in a near-total internet blackout connectivity reported around 4% of normal. (The Washington Post)
The next problem isn’t politics. It’s money.
If the internet is off, payments don’t clear. If protests spread, accounts get watched. If the state feels threatened, banks become a control surface. And if the currency is melting, your savings bleed while you’re trying to stay safe. In late January the rial hit a record low around 1,500,000 per dollar. (Al Jazeera)
This is the war lesson: in conflict, money stops being neutral. The rails become permissioned. Access becomes conditional.
Bitcoin wins here for one simple reason: it’s bearer money.
Not “a bank account.” Not “a promise.” An asset you can hold yourself, move without asking, and take across borders in your head. It doesn’t fix war. But it does remove a key weapon: the ability to trap people inside a broken currency and a controlled banking system.
The best money is the money that still works when institutions don’t.
21 million units. No CEO. No freeze function. No hotline.
This is the ad Bitcoin never had to buy. Price doesn’t reflect it yet.
It will.

@daveinermo @DrewPavlou We appreciate the change in stance but it doesn’t change the fact we all want him gone as soon as possible.
English

@DrewPavlou Nope it's about him trying to capture the voters paying attention to Pauline whom he assumes will also be MAGA - sucking up to Trump is what he thinks he needs to start to gain traction in that base.
Albo is always about what will keep him in power.

@mindless_chant @DrewPavlou 😂 best thing I’ve seen on the internet today.
English

@DrewPavlou It's not surprising. He's fairly sensible on foreign affairs and understands Australia's interests well

I love you @elonmusk but action speaks louder than words! Claude models are improving literally by the day. I currently use Claude daily and it’s the best thing smoking since BBQ on the grill. Grok is playing catch up, which is fair since it’s only a couple of years old
You’re not going to be able to just ship a perfect fully functional coding model in June to compete with Claude, Open AI and Gemini without massive user input and feedback.
Right now, Grok is not even mentioned as a go to with the top 3. I’ll never count you out here, but want to be realistic! ❤️

@NickPrijic @sweatystartup Don’t forget the deck building for rent hikes and tomato farming operation.
English

@sweatystartup 2 (unconventional) rules of @sweatystartup
1) ragebait Tesla fans and roofers
2) actually write a decent set of rules
Never change bro

@PastNostalgic @Dr_Singularity Have you not noticed the acceleration?
English

@bowtiedstocks @cmkusher @SpachusAus Sqm have always been the benchmark. Been scratching my head whenever I see @SpachusAus saying Bris listings rising… doesn’t feel like it if you’re in the market, that’s for sure.
English

@cmkusher @SpachusAus does your data point to the contrary?
English

@Lolaka94 @TimRichardsonMP What happened to having a conversation? That ended swiftly…
English

@TimRichardsonMP Problem is majority of men are good, they want to be protectors, providers and mentors. Your approach assumes the opposite and comes across as condescending to these good men. Which brings me back to should be more targeted.

Here’s a bit of news. 🗞️
I am really proud to be taking on additional roles in the Victorian Labor Government on behalf of Premier Jacinta Allan.
I am so proud to continue serving as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier.
In addition to being Parliamentary Secretary for Men’s Behaviour Change, I will also be adding to my responsibilities as Victoria’s first Parliamentary Secretary for Men’s Health & Wellbeing. This is a really critical role, which acknowledges the need to support the physical, mental health and healthy masculinities of men and boys in our communities.
The Premier has asked me to serve as Parliamentary Secretary for Violence Reduction, working across communities to stop crime before it starts, to get at-risk students into sports, arts and other positive activities to help them stay on track and discourage them from turning to crime.
With really important reforms of “Adult Time for Violent Crime” and consequences for young people using violence, we need to prevent and divert young people away in the first instance.
These are really critical roles and looking forward to the important work ahead.

@MaximDimSim @AvidCommentator Something has to change. We can’t keep going down this path can we?
English

@AvidCommentator This is going to have massive political consequences in our country.
Yesterday I thought ON getting Barnaby involved was the beginning of the end, today I think Pauline is in with a chance at being our next Prime Minister.
English

@bowtiedstocks @Adam_Creighton Don’t forget the voting intentions! It would be shallow to think it’s only about the money…
English

@Adam_Creighton Our traitorous government are trafficking humans from developing countries for the sole purpose of of running a population Ponzi scheme
It is unethical, immoral and corrupt and should be called out as such
English

As inflation increases to 3.8% over year to October, it's great to know Net Permanent and Long Term arrivals (almost entirely from developing countries) were over 415,000 over the same period, highest ever.
That'll help! 😂

@bowtiedstocks It’s especially fun to watch for those who busted their arse and paid their own way through uni… Now we get to pay twice!
English

Thrilled that my taxes are going to reducing someone’s debt for doing a 4 year basket weaving 101 degree…
Absolutely insane economic policies, the quiet Australians have had enough
Jim Chalmers MP@JEChalmers
Labor's 20% cut to your student debt has started rolling out. If you've got a student loan, you'll get a text from the ATO in the next few weeks when your debt has been cut. Someone with a student debt of $50,000 will see $10,000 wiped. No forms - just real cost-of-living help to ease pressure on Australian students.

@intern @ASvanevik Sir I’m mildly offended that you forgot to mention how badly we were raped by Celsius in that long list of catastrophes
English

a little shocked by the amount of people agreeing with this shitpost
guys 2022 was so much worse its hard to even compare, credit shops were blowing up left and right, friends were disappearing from telegram chats every day, crypto companies going ghost not operating but still exist like the walking dead, funds closing their doors, charts were a constant falling knife with cascading liquidations
it wasn't only embarrassing to be in crypto people assumed you were a legit criminal if you were here
to quote Haseeb "Luna collapsing, then 3AC, then FTX, then Genesis, BlockFi, Axie, NFTs--pretty much everything felt like a house of cards.
And then after all that stuff collapsed, the BANKS collapsed, stablecoins depegged, Gary Gensler and the president tried to destroy almost every company in the industry"
2025 is basically alts having a small case of erectile dysfunction
crypto is entrenched in the future of global finance now things are going to be ok
intern@intern
for anyone that was not around during the 2022 crypto bear market, trust me this is way worse

@davidpattersonx 😑…. Imagine one of these just walks in and clears your desk and starts doing your job…. 😒

@bowtiedstocks Happening in my suburb too. Median house price? Only 1.8m
English

Just on this, I just pulled into my driveway
Median house price for the area around $1.5m - $2m now
It’s bin night tonight
And we have a middle aged lady walking up and down the street dumpster diving everyone’s bins for the 10c refund cans bottles
How desperate is it getting
BowTiedStocks@bowtiedstocks
I’m noticing an increasing number of people begging outside of shopping centers etc in the inner to middle ring suburbs of Brisbane It’s quite an alarming development, and you wonder where things are going wrong given the significant taxes and safety net inherent here
English

@holewomanlovesx @bryan_johnson My bet is they will next time and measure the difference in his brain activity when outdoors in nature.
English

@Matt_Camenzuli @liamtapper Hmm. This sounds familiar… where have we heard “it’s voluntary” before?
English

What fresh hell is this?
Well done @liamtapper, on this excellent piece explaining the new requirements for all Australians to upload a government issued ID to search the Web, from Dec 27.
I am disgusted.
This is disgusting.
