On the sidelines of PDAC 2026 and @CIBC Capital Markets Nuclear Summit, I had the pleasure of briefly connecting with Tim Gitzel, CEO of @cameconews , and with Grant Isaac, President and COO, at a significant moment for the company. Earlier this month, @cameconews entered into a long-term agreement to supply uranium ore concentrate (U3O8) to the Government of India’s Department of Atomic Energy for use in the country’s fleet of nuclear reactors. The agreement covers nearly 22 million pounds of uranium ore concentrate over a nine-year period, with an estimated total value of approximately $2.6 billion. We were pleased to convene the Strategic Roundtable on The New Nuclear and Critical Minerals Nexus for Energy Security, co-hosted in partnership with @DeloitteCanada , ahead of Powering the Future: SMRs, Critical Minerals & Energy Security at @the_PDAC 2026. The roundtable brought together leadership from across the ecosystem, including governments, regulators, capital markets, utilities, Indigenous representatives, and industry. The discussion was conducted under Chatham House Rule to enable candid and strategic exchange. The dialogue underscored the growing alignment between advanced nuclear deployment and critical minerals development in strengthening energy security and industrial competitiveness. The second edition of Powering the Future: SMRs, Critical Minerals and Energy Security convened senior government leaders, industry executives, capital markets representatives, and energy stakeholders at @the_PDAC 2026. Held alongside the world’s premier mineral exploration and mining convention, the forum brought together decision-makers at the nexus of nuclear deployment, mineral security, and industrial competitiveness. As electricity demand rises and global competition for critical minerals intensifies, the discussion focused on how advanced nuclear technologies and resilient supply chains can be aligned to strengthen energy security, industrial competitiveness, and long-term economic growth. On the margins of #PDAC2026, Ontario promoted to over 127 nations our plan to build the G7's first Small Modular Reactor. Ontario is building nuclear on-time and on-budget, with a plan to create 150,000 jobs and add $800 billion to the economy, with at least 80% of investment #MadeInCanada. It was encouraging to hear Minister @timhodgsonmt underline what it takes to cement Canada’s economic strength, with advancing clean energy projects at the core.
