I've been told post surgery that if I needed extra meds because I was still having pain related to the surgery that I'd have to go through pain mgmt.

I was grateful Publix filled this prescription this month after paying nearly $400 for months at one mom-and-pop pharmacy, followed by $160 at a different mom-and-pop pharmacy last month. $40 felt like oxygen. And then, at the Publix pharmacy counter, while handing me this prescription, I was told that starting next month, Publix will no longer accept my pain management doctor. CVS already said no. Walgreens already said no. What we’re watching isn’t safety. It’s stratification. Access to pain care is disappearing for Middle America, while those with money, influence, or concierge medicine remain insulated from these barriers. This is a two-tier system: retail denial for ordinary patients, private access for the powerful. This isn’t about misuse. It’s about access. And access is disappearing, selectively.

Every time I discuss misogyny in medicine and the various ways in which women are mistreated, men flock to the comments to tell me I’m wrong. They mansplain. They tell me I’m lying. They say I should have “tried harder” to find a woman doctor. They prove my point.

@broadwaybabyto I was only able to get a tubal+ablation to lessen my awful periods -that I'd been asking for since my early 20s- in my mid 30s. I'd been married for a decade and still had no kids. I guess they finally believed me and/or decided my husband must also not want kids? It's absurd.

I had a medical condition that necessitated a hysterectomy and I was denied for 5 years in case I “met a man who wanted kids”. I said I didn’t want kids, they didn’t care. I said I could adopt, they said HE may want biological children.

@jakescottMD Sounds like something that needs to be made part of the standard of care. Physicians actually taking time to discuss and explain things with their patients can only be a good thing. If things were being explained all along we might have less antivax nonsense in the first place.
