New podcast: Hard tech startups die because they don't iterate quickly enough. They are left building big plants with technology that isn't there yet. I sat down with @HugoRauch_Tech on the New Wave podcast to discuss why DAC is an industrial certainty and how we're building for this massive market. Coming from @tesla, I saw that the only real moat is your speed of iteration. At @SironaTechCDR, we apply software speed to Direct Air Capture. We're just under three years old and we're already building our 7th iteration. If you aren't shipping, you aren't learning. A few of the tactical points we covered: Massive market: Even if we reduce emissions by 75%, we'll need to compensate for a massive 10 billion tons of residual emissions. To get to net-zero, there is no way around it. It is inevitable. Modular Execution: Most DAC companies build huge monolithic plants. We ship containers. By building modular units, we can iterate every six months instead of every six years. Sorbent Agnostic: The best filter material for DAC hasn't been invented yet. We build hardware that is solid-sorbent-agnostic so we can improve our sorbent over time and even swap the filters without rebuilding the infrastructure. Electron Arbitrage: We don’t fight data centers for power. Since CO2 is everywhere, we just go and find places where the energy is the cleanest and the cheapest. China added 256 GW of solar in the first half of 2025 alone. For perspective: the US has installed 262 GW of solar in its entire history. China is now adding more solar capacity in 6 months than the US built over decades.

The algorithm was rebuilt from scratch by the xAI team and now runs on +20K GPUs at the Colossus data center. This was a huge undertaking: essentially changing the engine on a jet midflight. Time spent is up 20% and follows are up even more. But there is still so much more to improve.

2025 was a completely crazy year for PROTOTYPE 🦾🇪🇺🔥 1) All of our current funds are in their global 1%-5% Fund 1 (2019): 4.9x MOIC, 0.95x DPI Growth (2022): 5.6x MOIC*, 2.75x DPI Fund 2 (2022): 2.4x MOIC*, 0x DPI (*) MOIC of F2 + Growth are lower bound estimates as we have two rounds closing atm 2) Our portfolio raised far over $1B in this year alone Keep in mind that we invest almost only first-round. 3) Fund 3 raised in record time and due to LP demand had to extend another 25% Most of the new LPs are hyper-european family offices and founders! Super excited for that. Some of the best people in our game that are genuinely excited to push stuff forward on every front. We will announce Fund 3 properly in early January. Will be epic. ❤️ 4) We started a Youtube channel that already gained 250k views MUUUUCCHHHH more to come here in 2026! Like and subscribe! ;) 5) EU–INC is on it's way to become European Law 🇪🇺🔥 TBD if they will implement it useful as wished or designed based on some politician fever dream. 6) We invested in 15 companies this year. A 500 MW solar and storage project in Arizona just received a key approval. This project will help Tucson Electric Power retire a massive coal plant nearby, improving air quality and cutting costs. This is the way.
