You can enjoy both Carolina BBQ and Texas BBQ while understanding the difference and similarities of each cuisine. But for any outsider of South Carolina style BBQ I highly recommend you try hash & rice even though it might look like puke for somebody who has never had it but it is 10/10 delicious. Trust me.

Let me explain exactly why every new subdivision in America looks like the top photo, because the math is wild. A mature tree increases a home's value by 7 to 19 percent. On a $400,000 house, that's $28,000 to $76,000. A single shade tree produces the cooling equivalent of ten room-size air conditioners running 20 hours a day. One tree on the west side of a house cuts energy bills by 12 percent within 15 years. The bottom photo is worth more, costs less to live in, and sells faster. This has been documented by the University of Washington, Clemson, Michigan State, and the USDA. The data is not in dispute. Removing those trees saves the builder roughly $5,000 per lot. Concrete trucks need twice the dripline radius of every standing tree. Utility trenches need flat ground. A bulldozer flattens 200 lots in an afternoon. Preserving trees adds weeks and thousands per home. So the developer pockets $5,000 in savings and the buyer eats $50,000 in lost value for the next two decades. The person making the decision and the person paying for it have never been in the same room. The Woodlands, Texas is the proof of what happens when they are. George Mitchell bought 28,000 acres of Houston timberland in 1974 and preserved 28% as permanent green space. He forced McDonald's to build behind the tree canopy. That McDonald's became one of the highest-volume locations in Texas. The first office building, designed to reflect the surrounding forest so you couldn't see it from the street, leased completely. The Woodlands median home price today: $615,000. Katy, a comparable Houston suburb that clear-cut: $375,000. Named #1 community to live in America two years running. Fifty years of data. The trees are worth more than removing them saves. Developers clear-cut anyway because they sell the house once and leave. You live in it for 30 years.

@quantballs @BenjiBacker $15 million is not a lot of money in this context. Let’s say a deer is struck by a car. That’s maybe $5k of vehicle damage. Other state expenses like animal control and police involvement is easily $10k. But the real suck is traffic. Wasted fuel and time is $100k+ each.

Colorado built this wildlife overpass last year for $15 million. It’ll pay for itself within five years from the avoided collisions. California spending $114 million on a failed wildlife overpass is absurd.

EXCLUSIVE: Gavin Newsom promised to build a bridge for cougars and butterflies in the middle of Los Angeles. The project has turned into another boondoggle, with broken deadlines and costs exploding to $114 million. This is Newsom's bridge to nowhere. city-journal.org/article/califo…

This is unfortunately what we have on here. What we need is nobody like Mark Levin or Ian Carroll. We need normal Americans, not this dichotomy.

@Joe1inventor @Garytard0 @Bitcoin_Teddy Those aren’t rent. Those are additional expenses. The guy in the original post said rent is $1800 it’s plain on its face not, the national average is $1380 Im sure it happens but I’ve also literally never heard of supplying your own fridge or stove for a rental that’s insane

Rent for one bedroom is $1,800. That means you need over $4,700 a month just to qualify. Show me the 22 year old making $73,000 a year for a starter apartment. I’ll wait

@quantballs @Garytard0 @Bitcoin_Teddy Advertised price and real price are not always the same. I looked at a place $1300 but then you paid for power and water and heat and parking. Oh do you need a fridge and stove? that cost more and the washer and dryer cost $5 each...

@SamaHoole What is a good ballpark portion of daily caloric intake to budget for fat? Or is the better method to just pick marbled cuts and eat what comes in your meal rather than tracking weights

Just to make myself clear if I wasn’t, I’m on the same side of this as you. I really HATE these economic doomer accounts. They, I think, have as bad an impact on our young people as chronic pot use or alcoholism, but they are so much more widespread and insidious I’m 27, and it honestly feels like the ladder dissolved underneath me as I climbed. There is literally nobody younger able to take my position because they aren’t working in roles that lead to advancement. This kind of slop absolutely kills any drive a 22 year old might have to put in the time and make their money

I’m gonna repeat myself; the state is NOT paying 15 million dollars every 5 years (3 million/year) addressing animal collisions on a stretch of road (call it 15 miles in each direction of this) 30 miles long. There’s literally no way that’s real. If you wanted to argue state wide? I could probably believe that, but I’d need to see numbers and I don’t for a moment believe that one overpass solves this problem for the entire state This just doesn’t make sense. Do you know where to point me so I can see the studies you’re talking about?

@quantballs @BenjiBacker This stuff has been studied to death and it feels plainly intuitive how accidents cost money for the state and the individual. There are so many animal collisions a year on highways like this.
