@lgsguy What’s the cost of the pump setup?

Customer: “A skid steer rolled over my sidewalk and now the concrete is sinking. Can y’all fix that?” Me: Say less. That’s exactly what foam jacking/leveling is for. We used high density closed cell foam to stabilize the soil under the slab, then lift it back into place. (Since the foam expands, it can lift basically any size slab) The whole process took about 2 hours and we got about 5” of lift. Customer was pumped! Water was pooling on it before. Not anymore since we fixed the grade. Small enough to be our job minimum of $1,500. Used about 20lbs of foam total. Material cost was roughly $100. Facebook ads for foam lifting have been printing leads Before, during and after pics below

@AutismCapital This happened to me once in little league. But instead of getting stuck in my shirt it was a pop fly / home run. I was not a good pitcher.

@MatznerJon This is cool Jon. Can you get a picture of the homeowner, then render what they would look like 20-50 lbs lighter? If so, sign me up!

I built an agent that mails a custom picture of your own house (creepy?) Type any address (or upload a CSV). Hit enter. Sixty seconds later you're looking at a photograph of that house. Lit up at night. Full permanent lighting traced along every eave and peak. Not a stock photo. Not a rendering of a house that sort of looks like it…. THEIR HOUSE. The one they pulled into this morning. - Pipe that image into a 6×4 postcard template (or even better use an API). - Print five hundred of them. Drop the stack at your local post office under USPS Every Door Direct Mail. No mailing list. No names. No opt-ins. Just "every door on carrier route 14B, go." Three days later, every homeowner on that block opens their mailbox and finds a photograph of their own house. Already lit up. On a postcard. With your phone number on the back. They didn't ask for it. They didn't send you a photo. They've never talked to you! That's the agent. Or skip USPS entirely. We'll let agents run the whole thing for you. - Hand us the address list. - We render, print, stamp, drop. You never touch a postcard! And every postcard can carry a unique QR code tied to that specific address. When 184 Chestnut Lane scans theirs, you don't just get "someone's interested." You get 184 Chestnut Lane is interested. Call them (or door knock!) tomorrow We originally built this for a permanent lighting company, run by a handsome gentleman wearing a rolex in a podcast studio. Swap the modification prompt and you have a new product tomorrow: - Roofing. New shingles. Color swaps. Before/after. - Siding & exterior paint. Color picker → rendered house. - Garage doors, front doors, windows, fences, driveways. - Landscaping. Front yard transforms. Xeriscaping. Tree removal. - Commercial signage. Render the new sign on the actual storefront from Street View. - Pressure washing. Dirty → clean. - Interiors. kitchens, baths, fireplaces, basements, flooring. Interior photos are all over the internet, and send a mailer when the house changes hands. If your customer can't picture what you're selling them, this is for you. We're building these for $500 bucks, then usage (no seats or retainers or whatever).

My grandpa was a mason and I grew up in this trade and paid for college with it. Best bet for learning is to get a job with a crew. You’ll likely work as a hod tender for a few months and then work into being a Mason. One of the more physically demanding trades for sure. Speaking Spanish also helps.

@sodacitysimpson @mhp_guy @sodacitysimpson are your kids in Alpha? Looked at it but there’s not one reasonably close to me. Arizona has a public charter school from alpha that I’m seriously considering. I like their model.

The bar is laughably low for US public schools I live in a wealthy, 10/10 grade district, & yet still: - Kids can retake tests unlimited times until they get an 85+. Why study? - We worship at the altar of must-stay-high home values - $48k/year teachers are broke & quitting left & right. Of course they are! - There are more iPads, Chromebooks and GoPros than there are kids, but teachers are still broke and the schools are begging for money - It costs parents $900 for kids to take the bus in the afternoon only, but this doesn't make a dent in the budget - Classes are overcrowded. 1 of 3 of our elementary schools recently closed down due to funding - Schools are largely funded by property taxes, which are $10k - $40k/year(!!) in this area, but the schools are still broke! - Football & other sports are doing more than great with regards to funding. We rival many colleges in production value and amenities. Why? - We've known for decades that kids are getting fatter every year and that highly processed foods are one culprit, but we still feed kids garbage en masse. This was yesterday's lunch: What do you think home values would be if we dropped to a 6/10 grade? Incentives are aligned to ensure that can't happen. I know other states like Florida manage school districts differently. Here in TX the same house next door could be worth 30% more if in a better district. Why can't we rely on iPads and football less and pay teachers more? The household income here is over 3x the teachers' salaries! But they don't see any of it. Why can't kids go outside more and feed our kids real food? Obesity is more expensive than healthy food. The teachers, parents and administrators here are good, talented and loving people, but working within and against a broken system. The US does better than many other countries, but we can do so much better. How? I'm genuinely asking. We've never homeschooled, but it's looking more and more tempting every year...

We came to this island to do two things. First, to build a microschool for our own kids—to show them that learning doesn’t have to be tied to one place. Second, to tackle a real problem. Right now, this island imports all of its food. Every meal arrives by boat. But the land is fertile, and we believe this is something kids can help solve—together. Today is day one. Our kids are meeting the local kids for the first time. The goal is simple: – Build real relationships and start something meaningful. We’ll see how it goes. #Microschool #FutureOfEducation #ProjectBasedLearning #RealWorldLearning #GlobalEducation #SustainableLiving #EducationReimagined #LearningByDoing #WorldSchooling #GuideSchool

Mike Lee for Attorney General! He’d be awful, but so would anyone willing to be Trump’s AG. It would keep him from stinking up the Senate for another three decades or more. And he’d be fired within a year when Trump gets bored with him. Make it happen, MAGA!

Load 4 kids in the car and leave early morning for Moab. Drive 4 hours. Rig rope swing for flatlander friends visiting Moab for the first time. Swing until everyone is content. Eat Indian food. Drive 4 hours back. Get kids in bed at midnight. My goal to drink less caffeine is taking a serious hit.

@ShannonJean Garage B is gonna get their hands dirty and do what needs to be done. When you’re starting this is crucial. Garage A is a few years and a few million $ in.

I have a theory. You're looking for a business partner. You have it narrowed down to 2 people. You get to visit their homes. Are you choosing the person with Garage A or Garage B? Why?

So you want to be an SMB owner? We had 4 jobs on the schedule this week. Was going to be our biggest week of the year so far. 3 called yesterday to reschedule because of expected rain. Now we have to try to squeeze them in later in the month. Not sure how. Our big job next week is Mon-Thur, and that is in danger of getting rescheduled too, with the expected temps too low to seal. I thought we'd be busy this time of year and now might go two weeks with no work.

Thank you. Actually today’s results were about as good as could be expected. Could be much worse than it is and there is some hope with various therapies on the horizon

Don’t take things for granted. At my 9 yo son’s annual eye exam. He has retinitis pigmentosa and is slowly going blind. Likely 5-8 years left without intervention. Field of vision test shows the disease progression and is the one we dread every year. Gene therapies can’t come fast enough.
