You can now bet on the performance of Bitcoin in a 15 minute period. This is definitely going to end well.

The AI era of apps is here. In this discussion with a16z Apps Fund GPs Alex Rampell, David Haber, and Anish Acharya, they break down: - How AI is driving explosive product growth - The new product categories that couldn't exist before AI - Why AI-native startups should look for “greenfield” opportunities with unserved customers instead of competing with large incumbents - Why moats still matter - How software is eating labor 00:00 Introduction 02:17 AI's role in enterprise and consumer applications 05:03 Emerging AI trends and investment strategies 08:43 Traditional software going AI-native 14:40 Software eating labor 17:04 Case study: Eve 21:33 Building defensible moats 24:45 Case study: Salient 31:53 The walled garden 40:23 Incumbents vs startups 53:32 Consumer AI applications 56:03 Model aggregation strategy 57:06 Investment process & team 1:06:46 Customer retention & enterprise sales @arampell @dhaber @illscience

I am hiring a Director of BD at Rare Days This will be amongst the most important hires I make this year This person will eat what they kill. They will play a role in client strategy for some of the biggest brands and creators in the world. There's a bit of travel. There's a lot impact. We grew over 60% this year and I think we can beat that by a wide margin if we get the right person in this seat. raredays.applytojobs.ca/partnerships/4… DMs are open

Elon Musk just banned a Democratic senator from Twitter for essentially no reason. Here’s why the liberal media has a free speech problem.

I fucking love this guy. Here is the thing. He had a bad game Sunday. We need him to be better but as long as any athlete seemingly wants to win as much as I do I will always defend that guy and go to war for him.

Just wrapped an incredible vacation in my favorite place, Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. Caught my first green waves, drank my body weight in smoothies and gallo pinto, finished 5 NYT crosswords. Fully unplugged. Two years ago I was stressed AF heading into 2024 and worked the whole first week. This year I feel amazing knowing we have 8 new teammates starting today and revenue nearly double YoY. Growth doesn't have to equal stress, i guess Wishing you all the best in 2026. My non professional resolution is getting to B1 Spanish. Please wish me luck. Pura vida amigos

Ted Turner is a hero of mine. His bio changed my life: - his dad killed himself when ted was ~22 - he took over the family billboard business - turned it around. used profits to buy radio stations - use profits to start tv station - then created the world's for 24 hour news network (CNN) - after 5-10 years, CNN finally starts working - recorded CNN's end of the world segment to air if CNN ever goes off air (which will only happen if world's ending) - buys other media properties like MGM - sells in a horrible deal to AOL - Prolific sailer. Won the America's cup. Won 1 race where ~15 others died. Very dangerous - At one point was nearly the largest land owner - Helped save American bison from extinction - Created the Goodwill Games, an olympics competitor, to help create peace between soviet union + USA. - Nick name was Mouth from the South because he walked a lot and said both amazing and amazingly stupid things Why I admire him: - he was into philosophy and the arts but also other traditionally manly stuff - he was risk on...bet it all, all the time - he was an outdoorsman - he knew the point of money was to have fun, help others, and leave the world better off Bad things about him: - Horrible husband, not great father - Drunkenly said so many famously dumb things

Reading Bob Iger’s book after reading Jobs bio and Barry Diller memoir - it’s fascinating how the same people and stories are mentioned but from their unique POVs eg. Eisner and Katzenberg stories and Murdoch and fox stories

After nearly 13 years, I stepped away from Webflow + Webflow Labs last month. Hard to put into words how proud I am of what we built — and what the team keeps building every day. Core memories forever: shipping the first visual CMS in 2015… IX → IX2 → IX3… and this year’s AI suite of products at Webflow Conf. Wild to see Webflow still cookin’ 12 years in. I never thought the nginx + Lua scripts I hacked together would become the foundation of a platform powering 1.5% of the internet 📈. Or that our early hires would go on to found amazing companies and grow to badass leaders across the industry. I always caution founders to separate work from life. But I can't ignore how working on Webflow has been so fulfilling to mine. To everyone I got to work with: thank you. You inspired me more than you know. 📸 2014, our first SF office. Back when Vlad had no white hairs, and Sergie… well… stayed on brand 🧑‍🦲😂 ❤️

Can you think of any Pre-PMF companies that successfully launched a web and mobile product at the same time? I'm racking my brain. Can't think of one. No doubt a lesson there (but tell me if I'm wrong)

From now till the end of the year, my goal is to cold email as many execs or owners behind the products I use on a daily/weekly basis and see if I can land a project with any of them. My highest-converting cold emails have stemmed from the things I really personally care about, and it shows in the email. I think this will be a fun experiment — ranging from my mom-and-pop local stores I frequent all the way up to mega corps like Ford and United Airlines.
Matt Varughese@mattvaru

Being genuinely excited about a project will win you more goodwill than you could ever imagine. (Heavy emphasis on the "genuine" part.)

the romantic tension between a founder and the enterprise champion they want to hire, but can't because it would kill the deal the champion is so high agency and sees your company's vision alas it is forbidden

I will be the last one to board the plane always. My bag is gonna get checked anyway because the planes never have room. And why sit longer on the plane than I need to? Boarding last superiority.
