I should add that their authorization portal was down, requiring an entire day for one nurse to call, wait, get transferred, repeat. It’s like a sick, dark comedy.

Why is @UHC Medicare Advantage allowed to harm Medicare patients by delaying a hip replacement - for someone in so much pain they’ve become wheelchair bound - 2 weeks for prior authorization when a hip replacement is a covered service under Medicare?

Remember that the person who trained into their 30's to learn to do the surgery, does most of the work, and takes on most of the risk is the recipient of 6% of the overall payment.

At first I didn’t even see Rheumatology - it’s so low in professional satisfaction that it’s easily missed.
A decade ago, this would be unthinkable. At least today we can say that we have a lot of room to get back to where we once were.
