@janekleeb @DonJBacon He sent a Tweet: “Life is the most precious right and today’s decision in the Dobbs case affirms that. It does not outlaw abortion, but puts it in the hands of the elected representatives of the states and Congress…” Digest that last sentence.

Today, I emailed the Hastings Public School (HPS) (@hpstigers) Board respectfully requesting that they choose not to contract with McPherson & Jacobson, LLC ("M&J"). M&J is a firm that purports to specialize in superintendent placement for K-12 school districts. Some important context: In 2025, M&J produced Christopher Prososki as the priority candidate for the position of HPS Superintendent. On April 20, 2026, Prososki's resignation was tendered as HPS Superintendent after he was suspended. M&J employs some of the most well-connected superintendents in Nebraska as "consultants," including Mike Lucas, who led the search for the HPS Superintendent in 2025. Mike Lucas collects nearly $350,000 a year in taxpayer salary and benefits through his position as superintendent of Westside Public Schools in Omaha. That is before calculating the private compensation he collects through the consulting fees he charges through M&J. In addition to Lucas, M&J’s executive director is Steve Joel, the former LPS Superintendent. Aiding Lucas as a consultant in the 2024-25 HPS search was Joel’s son, Derrick Joel, the current superintendent of Norris Public Schools. These superintendents were charging Hastings Public Schools consultant fees, which means you—the Hastings property taxpayer—were left holding the bag for a candidate that unquestionably failed at HPS. Prososki’s failure could not be more disappointing. Not only is the board compensating Prososki through June for work he will not be performing, but the search for a new superintendent will certainly come with additional costs. What is clear is this: McPherson & Jacobson, LLC is not worth the cost for HPS. The HPS School Board is full of competent and experienced professionals who can make a hire on their own. The employment of an outside search firm, a firm that seems only to protect the interests of an exclusive Nebraska superintendents' "good old boys' club" is not necessary. As we have seen, the candidate M&J just recently produced has failed Hastings students, teachers, and taxpayers. I do not take going public with this lightly. It is up to the people of Hastings to demand that the HPS School Board acts with the interests of both the taxpayer and the well-being of HPS in mind. Those interests require that McPherson & Jacobson are not involved in the HPS Superintendent hiring process going forward. Signed, Blake Aspen HHS Graduate, Class of 2018

Pete Ricketts will do anything to win an election. He'll smear people with dishonest mailers. He'll flood the airwaves with lies. He'll funnel his family's dark money through outside groups to destroy candidates he doesn't control. He'll plant fake candidates in the opposing party's primary to split the vote. He'll demand loyalty oaths from elected officials, and when they don't comply, he'll spend a fortune trying to ruin their reputations. He'll even use out-of-state dark money groups to go after moderate Republican farmers who dare disagree with him on taxes. He doesn't just try to win elections. He tries to destroy people. Organizations under his control have been sued for defamation and LOST in court. Here are three candidates who found out the hard way. In 2018, Republican state Senator Laura Ebke was showing free screenings of "It's a Wonderful Life" at small theaters across her district in southeast Nebraska. She had already cleared it with the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission before doing it, but the NEGOP under Ricketts' control accused her of bribing voters. Ricketts' people sent mailers attacking her every other day. The smear campaign worked. Ebke lost her seat and her reputation was damaged. Despite her storied conservative record (she joined and was endorsed by the Libertarian Party!), Ricketts destroyed her political career for the crime of not voting exactly the way he wanted her to in the Legislature. In 2022, Ricketts funded a PAC that ran vicious attack ads against Republican Matt Williams in a University of Nebraska Board of Regents race. Williams probably voted with Pete 95% of the time in the Legislature, but that 5% was enough for Ricketts to set out to destroy not just Matt's campaign, but his reputation entirely. The ads called Williams a "secret liberal" and claimed he let violent criminals, including pedophiles, out of prison early. Both things were lies. Despite a Board of Regents race typically not drawing major spending, Ricketts dumped more than $314,000 to oust Williams for the crime of voting his conscience on just a few issues that differed with the governor. In 2020, Republican Janet Palmtag was running against Ricketts' preferred candidate for a state legislative seat. The NEGOP, which was under Ricketts' control at the time, sent out mailers saying Palmtag "broke the law," that she was "too irresponsible to keep her license," and that her real estate license had been "revoked." All of it was false. It damaged Palmtag's reputation so much that a jury awarded her $500,000 for defamation. Ricketts is running this same script on me but Nebraskans have seen this show before. The Ricketts family has treated this state like a Monopoly board. This November, Nebraskans have the chance to take our state back.

@PetersenForNE @NEAttorneyGen @mikehilgers We don’t need a divisive conspiracy theorist as Secretary of State. He knows he’s propagandizing elections, the people of Nebraska work them fairly and efficiently. Petersen seems to distrust them. Not what we need.

@damnlib @60Minutes Consider that under the Obama agreement, inspectors were allowed access to only certain sites. They reported concerns/beliefs that nuclear material was being developed/maintained elsewhere but they were denied access. I didn’t trust Iranian leadership then and I don’t them now

Last time U.N inspectors were able to verify, Iran had 970 pounds of 60% enriched uranium. If enriched further, the stockpile could produce 10 to 11 nuclear bombs, says Matthew Bunn, a former White House nuclear advisor who works at Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center. cbsn.ws/4cTIyZB

Our state still faces a significant wildfire threat. Today, I issued a proclamation to ensure that Nebraska National Guard resources are ready and available to respond to wildfires, should they be needed. High winds, low humidity, and dry conditions continue to be a concern and could produce dangerous conditions. Protecting the citizens of Nebraska is my number one priority. We are ensuring that resources are ready to combat fires and safeguard lives and property. I have full confidence in Adjutant General Strong to lead our state’s disaster response with efficiency and effectiveness.

Stop what you're doing and watch this. This is absolutely insane. This creep is arrested for chasing two 11 and 12 year girls in Gretna Nebraska. When questioned about his motives, Zachary Vinton claimed he "Wanted to have sex with them" Vinton has now been released on bond, and Gretna Public Schools has encouraged their students to USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM while this predator roams the streets. What the hell are we even doing?

@TeamPillen Jim, you’re running Nebraska in the ground. Employers are avoiding Nebraska, the young are leaving, the farm community is struggling, and you brag about being a business. Your wins? Soda pop and rotisserie chicken, no bid crony contracts and kissing Trump’s ass.

Now that tax season is behind us, I wanted to celebrate some of the improvements that the Nebraska Department of Revenue carried out to better serve Nebraskans this year. The Department of Revenue made major improvements that allows tax returns to be processed faster, which means money is getting back to Nebraska families quicker. We’re running government like a business — and that means constantly evaluating how we can improve processes to save taxpayer money while bettering services. ✅ Processing returns faster than ever ✅Higher accuracy rate ✅Getting money back to families sooner ✅Cutting government spending while improving the taxpayer’s experience governor.nebraska.gov/gov-pillen-hig…

🚨ENDORSEMENT ALERT🚨 I’m honored to earn the endorsement of the Nebraska Farm Bureau PAC! Nearly 1 in 4 jobs across our state are tied directly to Agriculture, making our ag producers the backbone of Nebraska’s economy. I look forward to working with the Farm Bureau to defend our Farmers and Ranchers, support E-15, expand trade opportunities, and fight onerous regulations.

Imagine citing being “from a family of teachers” as some sort of signal boost for your point. Teachers have overseen the delivery of extremely mediocre academic results in past decades. The school system is broken and its service providers are not, in general, exemplars of educational excellence.
