A STRONG RESPONSE TO JEAN-LUC HABYARIMANA
@JLHaby
After reading Jean-Luc Habyarimana’s statement, it is clear that it is not an opinion based on truth, but rather a narrative intended to mislead people and distort history.
First, claiming that a non-lieu decision changes history is either a serious misunderstanding or a deliberate attempt to rewrite it. The Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994 is an undeniable truth, recognized by history and international courts. No article or personal opinion can erase that.
Second, Jean-Luc Habyarimana’s statements show a willingness to roll back historical truth and discredit the current leadership of Rwanda. This is not surprising, because some members of the former regime and their affiliates have never accepted their role in planning and executing the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, and instead continue to spread biased narratives.
Third, trying to portray Agathe Kanziga as only a victim, with no responsibility whatsoever, is a way of distorting reality. Justice may have found insufficient evidence to convict her personally, partly due to those who did not want to accept the truth, but this does not erase the many historical questions linked to the regime she was close to, and among those giving directives, together with her brothers, within what was known as the Akazu.
Fourth, attempting to use media platforms and writings like these to attack Rwanda’s current leadership only reveals the weakness of such arguments. Today’s Rwanda has chosen a path of unity, reconstruction, and the fight against genocide ideology, and that is precisely what some people are uncomfortable with.
Fifth, shifting the discussion toward attacking current leadership and using insulting language does not change the truth of what happened. Instead, it shows a desire to evade historical responsibility and to continue fueling divisions, to the point where victims are blamed while perpetrators are presented as innocent.
Finally, truth cannot be replaced by narratives driven by emotion or political interests. The Genocide against the Tutsi is a grave historical reality, and denying or minimizing it in any form is unacceptable and will never be accepted; it is also a crime punishable by law number ...
Jean-Luc Habyarimana speaks against Rwanda’s current leadership because the FPR stopped a genocide plan that had been prepared by their family. He also holds resentment toward the FPR for having removed them from power, and he is now leading a rebel group in Congo aimed at attacking Rwanda in order to continue that genocide plan and overthrow the current government.
