I was a teacher for 12 years, and I hate this sort of rhetoric. A teacher's day is done by 3 pm. They never work a night or weekend unless they want to. Only 180 work days per year, they're off 1/2 the time. It's paid appropriately, but no teachers want to hear that.

@Wonderbarn @BIGCOACHO_ @anymanfitness You clearly missed the point. They were saying that they had to teach themselves because the teacher wasn't doing a good job of teaching them. But because they still wanted to get high grades, they had to learn the content on their own despite having a bad teacher.

@AmericanProtago @anymanfitness Yes and honestly man I’ve seen it with my own eyes. I teach 100 either graders. Students on all different levels. Dudes lost and if 2013 was the last time he taught fully or anytime before COVID. He’s really out of touch

@BIGCOACHO_ @anymanfitness As a teacher, I had many Honors/AP students who would tell me about other teachers who they said couldn't teach. They would say that the only reasons they were getting A-grades was because they were basically teaching themselves. The OP here was obviously one of those teachers.

@BowieTheus @beermanFL @LasVegasLocally When sports teams move to a new city, that means more people from that place are also moving to that city, which also means more traffic, higher crime, homelessness, higher prices--all the bad things about big cities, but still none of the good things for people living here.

The revenue is coming from the people who still go, though lower in number, still being willing to spend higher amounts of money, but they would still be going regardless.

Nevada is no longer the low-tax paradise it once was. In fact, the Silver State now ranks 27 out of 50 for "overall tax burden" according to a new WalletHub report. That's mainly because our sales and excise tax is insane — 6.3% statewide and 8.375% in Clark County. 💀

Not interfering in the free market was the philosophy of his Republican predecessor (Hoover) who lost re-election and became unpopular. When people are suffering, they need help, not lectures about "rugged individualism."

After FDR finished his second term the poverty rate for black Americans was over 90%. Plus, let’s just say he didn’t exactly poll very well with Japanese Americans in California. FDR in my opinion is the most overrated President in American history.

Not too many years ago we would have been dragged out of bed three hours ago by excited kids. Now it’s just me and the dog awake, with everyone else snoozing. Young parents, I know it’s rough when the kids run in at 4:30am shouting “Santa was here!”, but you will miss it.

@MomKrill @catholic_comedy Spend the day on the beach! (Seriously, though, I feel for you. I was really shocked that my in-laws didn’t consider baby-proofing an automatic thing to do and instead thought a 17 m.o. could learn that glass ornaments within easy reach were a no-no.)

Parents should visit their children, if able. It can be quite difficult for families, especially with many children, to do the traveling. Parents should be the ones making the trek to their adult children.
