@JadeAtrophis There is a pretty big city right on the intersection of 11 and 14. 12 - Charlotte, is bigger that its boundaries, basicaly all suburbs are cut into 14, 10, 6 snd 8. There is a city right between 10, 14 and 5.

Absolutely none of these unserious and unprincipled people have ever had a problem with North Carolina Republicans' egregious partisan gerrymandering in our state. They're not against map-rigging - they're just shocked and appalled when it's Democrats doing it.

@JadeAtrophis Even though NC’s map looks compact, analyses show it consistently produces ~10–11 GOP seats in a 50/50 state by packing Democratic voters into a few districts and spreading the rest—classic gerrymandering.

The final results being this close just reaffirms that the 6-5 congressional map was an accurate depiction of how the commonwealth actually votes.
The fact that Arlington will now be split into 5 districts is absolutely mind blowing.

What happened in Virginia's redistricting vote? Yes won by about 3 points, 51.5%-48.5%. If the VA Supreme Court does not invalidate the vote, it will mean a new Dem congressional gerrymander. Still, No did better than the GOP in 2024 or 2025 attorney general race.

Virginia had a constitutional amendment banning gerrymandering with 65% support - they threw it out like bad takeout
Dems don’t want a pure gerrymandering ban - it’s always just a new way of gerrymandering + something dumb like forced ballot harvesting

Democrats don't really want a national ban on gerrymandering in large part because both Democrat and Republican data experts agree it would hurt the Democrats. It's a talking point. In California, their nonpartisan gerrymandering board was packed with Democrats, some of whom just claimed to be Republicans to get on the board.

Yeah, Republicans and Democrats both engaged in gerrymandering. Here’s the difference democrats always take it to the next level. They literally obliterate any and every single normal boundary to usurp power.
I can now say that after looking at the actual numbers. And that’s the difference is one party has absolutely no moral dividing line and they are willing to do anything for power.

I think you’re seeing more pearl clutching about VA, though, bc none of the recent Republican gerrymandering disenfranchised voters this much.
VA voted 48% against this measure, but now only 10% of VA conservatives will have a voice at all.
