Imagine being governor of a state which has doubled its budget in a decade. Which has increased spending 30% faster than inflation and population combined. Which has declining outcomes in the biggest areas of state spending (public education, affordability, homelessness, roads and more.) Which has clear signs of fraud. All this, yet not even looking into major signs of fraud very seriously, while passing two successive record tax hikes, driving away investors and job creators. You’d be @BobFergusonGov.

For things to turn around in WA: 1) The @WAGOP would have to focus their messaging on reversing the income tax and fixing the fraud, and NOT nominate any crazy candidates. They’d need to focus messaging on the STATE LEVEL INSANITY nearly exclusively, and ignore federal politics and politicians. They will need to convince Trump/MAGA haters to support local R candidates. That alone is a very hard reach. 2) Election integrity has to be restored. 3) Independents, centrist liberals, and Republicans need to get off their butts and show up, and vote. In off years. In primaries. In EVERY election reliably. All three of these things are necessary, yet the odds of each of them are below 30%. So a pretty low chance of it happening.

Rep. Penner and myself had negotiated some fraud prevention measures into a bill about child care licensing, among a few other things. We negotiated these measures into the bill with the Democrat prime sponsor Adam Bernbaum and DCYF in good faith. The bill passed. And now I learned today that Democrat Sen. Claire Wilson has an amendment to literally strip out every single bit of it. Aside from how professionally bad that is, why would Democrats seek to erase fraud prevention? Oregon in the current year: Tren de Aragua members abduct woman and torture her with a power drill to steal her debit card info, turn out to be living in a drug den that is listed as a “drug rehab facility” receiving $2.3 million/year in Oregon Medicaid funds. Owners have likely stolen more than $60 million by laundering it through Rwanda. The only local journalist covering the story says state officials are told directly about this and simply don’t care. Modern blue state America is basically a foreign looting operation.

Having a baby with you for the most part improves your view of humanity. People stop you to get a look and tell you how cute they are and give you congratulations. The burly construction worker in line at Dunkin gives the baby a big smile and makes funny faces at them. The landscaper you pass on your afternoon walk can’t hold in that he’s about to become a new dad and that he’s excited and nervous. People are kind, funny, accommodating. There is no white pill like a baby.

I understand why Bills fans don't want to understand why it's not a catch. They're emotional and invested. It's natural. They're quite literally coping. I genuinely don't understand how anyone who is not a Bills fan does not understand that Cooks didn't survive the ground. It does not matter that for a fraction of a second his knee is down, and he was touched. That's not the rule. The moment he hit the ground, he lost control, and the ball wound up in McMillian's arms.
