Saw the video of few people being attacked in Mumbai's Kurla area allegedly by illegal hawkers for complaining against them. The videos clearly show it's MOB violence. This is atleast 4th attack / intimidating behaviour by hawkers in the last few months. 1. It is BMC officers who are the biggest culprit for enabling such large illegal hawkers taking up your footpath, and street enabling violence. 2. It is the BMC and Police that leaks out information of the Complainant to the hawkers. 3. BMC does not entertain hawkers' / encroachment complaint on X, and instead forces you to go to a portal where they take all your details, be it Mobile number, address or even your document. 4. Mumbai Police is well within the power to act against the illegal hawking mafia but won't, and instead blame the BMC for it. This has been documented. BMC and Police blame each other. 5. Local police will make this a personal conflict and dilute the matter. 6. Who is the corporator here? @MumbaiPolice @mybmc what's the case update?

For the last few decades this has been promised, said, assured, and more so since 2014 but never happened. Since 2014, the bjp has been in power in Centre, State and Dahisar. All engines in the same hands, no progress on the issue. It is an issue that requires a cabinet approval from GoI- but hasn’t happened since 2014. Dahisar is taken for granted. I had raised this question in the assembly and the answer was the same months ago, as is today. Very vague answer. Show us the location. Since this is to do with development: Show us the Government Resolution/ Cabinet Note, any other order that cites so. Or this is only a randomly thought of idea? Show us the Detail Project Report of the shifting. And show us the impact at the newly chosen sight of the HFR. Don’t tell us next 5 years and 10 years, talk of why it hasn’t happened till now and why should we trust you?
