Last night my funny, lovely friend @MicheMoffatt went to be with Jesus.
I first got to know Michelle two years ago when I saw the video clip below and reached out to her.
After suffering a freak accident in 2019, she became wheelchair-bound. She lost her career, her independence, her identity. In despair, she joined Dignitas with the intention of ending her life in Switzerland.
But thankfully, when Michelle’s family found out, they persuaded her not to go. She had anti-suicide psychological care from her NHS GP. She rediscovered purpose in life - far greater than she had even had before the accident.
And oh boy, did she rediscover her joy.
Michelle was suffering from a serious illness the entire time I knew her. But she was so lighthearted, so funny, so fun to spend time with. In her next 6 years, she was an amazing mum, an amazing friend, an inspiring campaigner - and even canoed the Zambezi river to fundraise for charity!
She had so many causes she cared about. Among the most prominent was that nobody in her shoes would be abandoned to a state-sanctioned suicide - something she had luckily escaped just in time.
She knew that with the right support at their lowest moment, others who suffered health crises like her would find a way to live again.
In her final months, Michelle was plagued with gastroparesis and needed a feeding tube. If she removed it, she would qualify for an assisted death under the Leadbeater Bill. That terrified her - that others like her could be tempted just to give up their lives when depression compounded with illness.
After six meaningful years, Michelle passed away peacefully at home.
Those six years weren’t just meaningful to her. They were meaningful to everyone she met and inspired. Michelle knew life was not about her own comfort, but the impact she had on others.
I know her kids will be grateful Michelle fought for and extra six years of life against all odds. I’m so grateful too, bc my life was made richer by knowing her.

🚨"I genuinely thought people would be happy that I wanted to end my life" When Michelle's health was at a low, she joined Dignitas. She and her family are so grateful that she never made the next step. Don't miss this👇

Cast out Caste and Untouchability:
India’s new census requires Dalits to disclose if they have become Christian or Muslims and if they do so they lose legal access to state benefits tied to caste identity.
A Commission led by former Chief Justice, K. G. Balakrishnan, is examining the impact on Dalit Christians and Muslims.
One human rights advocate says
“This is not just a statistical exercise. It determines who gets access to education, jobs, and representation.”
A pastor correctly adds “Faith gives us dignity. But survival demands compromise. The State should not make us choose between the two.”
A census which tests the boundaries between identity, rights, citizenship, and belonging, reinforces the place of caste - an inhumane system which should have no place in the modern world. @Sujat_Ambedkar @MissionAmbedkar @SantoshDass1048 @AjayDutt48 @CNACD @DalitFreedomNow @DalitFreedom

At the National Prayer Breakfast, Claire Lai shared her father’s story.
In 1997, the year Hong Kong was handed to China, hearts across the city were filled with fear and doubt. #JimmyLai turned to Christ. His doubts were overcome by God’s mercy and grace and transformed into trust.
This Easter, Claire says there is nothing he wants more than to be a faithful servant to our Lord.
He remains alone in a cell, sentenced to 20 years, for refusing to stop believing in freedom.

On this Feast of the Annunciation, Christians celebrate Mary's wholehearted embrace of God's will. The angel Gabriel counseled her not to be afraid—words that Jimmy Lai lives by.
This drawing, which Jimmy created in prison, expresses his love for Mary and his trust in Divine Providence.

This post by @NeilDotObrien MP is a thoughtful, considered, moving, and personal, response - animated by personal experience- to last night’s vote in @UKHouseofLords It’s a powerful commentary on the shocking mass destruction of human life in our country.
