@amangoeliitb Mostly business familes(bania/marwari) even in tier 2-3 towns live lifestyles similar to all the points mentioned in this post - with home, cars, staff, parents, international trips etc.
But 100s of crores of rupees should mean something more, something different.
In November 2021, I sold my startup to a larger company for millions of dollars. I was 26 years old when this happened.
Most people that age would have splurged on flashy cars, watches, or a lifestyle designed to impress. I went a different way.
I chose to upgrade my life with intention, balancing comfort, happiness, and long-term financial freedom.
Here are a few upgrades that I did:
1. Family first
The very same year, I brought my parents to live with me in Mumbai. Wealth means nothing if the people who matter most aren't around to share it. They still live with me today, and honestly, that's the best decision I've made.
2. Health & wellness
I've lost over 15 kgs and hired a fitness coach. My wife and I also get comprehensive health checkups twice a year. When you're building aggressively, your body pays the price unless you're deliberate about protecting it.
3. Food
I've drastically cut down on outside food, sugar, and fried items. Health starts in the kitchen, not the gym.
4. Home
I bought a house in 2022. Paid in full. No loans, no financial strain. A lot of people say renting is the smarter move, and they might be right on paper. But owning a home where my parents feel settled and happy? That was worth it for me.
5. Support system
With both my wife and me running startups, and my parents being senior citizens, we've invested in a strong support system: a home manager, a driver, a cook, and domestic helpers. It keeps life running smoothly so we can focus on what matters.
6. Experiences over things
We travel internationally 2 - 3 times a year, usually short trips of 4 - 5 days. Peaceful getaways that help us recharge before diving back into the grind.
The biggest lesson? Upgrades don't have to mean extravagance. They can mean peace. Health. Time with the people you love.
Those are the real luxuries that you should buy when you get a windfall.
Never ever take a travel policy from @policybazaar
I took a @CareHealthIndia travel policy from Policybazaar.
My flight from Dubai got delayed by more than 4 hours (Jan 2026).
I put in a claim as > 4 hours delay, a compensation was to be paid as per policy document.
And then the nightmare started. They asked for some docs, which I sent. Policybazaar RM follows up. They keep calling that Care Insurance requires more docs. I tell them it is too much an hassle and I don't want to pursue the claim. But they pursue me to send the docs and they will do the followup with Care. Policybzaar keeps calling and I do give the docs. All that are required. As claim amount is not worth the docs they keep on asking everytime, I decide not to pursue.
Care keeps asking for already sent documents. Policybazaar has no clue. Each time different RM calls. I tell them don't call me. But I keep getting calls. And Care keeps sending mails and SMS asking for docs already submitted.
It seems Care doesn't want to pay. Fine, I have learnt my lession. I will never buy again from Care and Policybazaar.
I don't want the claim. Stop the harassment. Please don't call me again.

@flyspicejet Very poor operational performance by SpiceJet. Today’s SG-9075 flight delayed by 5 hrs. Due to this their customer base is depleting, customers wants more airlines to avoid monopoly of few operators. Alas, SpiceJet now or never..
@rapidobikeapp Rapido has became a menace in Pune. U bk a taxi, he will reach & will ask u to go by meter, switch off AC, ask extra money for AC. This has become a routine.
@AmitPal41487695@ndtv@mukeshmukeshs One of the challan was for driving without license. Why they didn’t impound the vehicle? Further probe would have resulted in underage driving and subsequently this accident might not have occurred.
@ndtv@mukeshmukeshs Such parents are disgrace to the society. He is lying , i am very sure all 13 challans are for the kid. Drivers dont drive rash. This family is a repeated offender. Strictest punishment to be given to such people and family. They put everybody including you and me in danger

@dtptraffic Shameless car owners and equally shameless authorities. Cars are more precious than human life. Yesterday 6:23pm, 12/12/2025
Adarsh World School, Sector-12, Dwarka. Parking on footpaths has become a norm.
@dtptraffic Sir, 3-4 cars, especially on Fri/Sat/Sun are parked on the footpath in front of Adarsh World School, Sec-12, Dwarka.
Friday 12/9/25 6:30-7pm
Your prahari app is not user friendly to report these offences while driving/cycling. Need occasional patrolling.
@Mukjo@PuneCityTraffic I think there r 36 e-challans pending , pl chk, now this one is 37th. What kind of policing we hv in this country? If more than 3 challans are pending, suspend license and take custody of the vehicle. That’s why ppl break traffic laws w/o impunity.
MH 14 LL 2900 parked on footpath in front of Indramani bunglow on prabhat road, near lane no 14
@PuneCityTraffic please take necessary action

Being a public sector banker involves various challenges, & frequent transfer is certainly one of the most significant ones. After 3 yrs in Pune heading a branch & then briefly handling Home loans portfolio, it's time to take on a new challenge at a new location.
Will be facing two firsts:
- First time in the Marathwada region.
- First time handling Agricultural Credit.
Pune wasn't the most pleasant experience for me but it was certainly a memorable one. Unintentionally did some activism, made some wonderful friends & had my share of professional achievements.
Time to say goodbye to Pune & Hello to Sambhajinagar.
@TOIGoaNews Doctor should apologise to the patient in the casualty ward to whom injection was not administered. Also HM should have handled the situation diplomatically but with a firm hand.
Dr Rudresh Kuttikar, who was abused in GMC's casualty ward by health min Vishwajit Rane, has refused to accept an apology put out by Rane on social media.
"I was completely humiliated, I demand a public apology in the same place where the incident happened within 24 hrs," he said
@Sreya_Chattrjee Now they hv a permanent home in Narela. Let the elites from Jangpura/Lajpatnagar who were asking काम पे क्यू नहीं आयी? start a chartered bus from Narela daily if they want to retain the workforce. It’s a win-win situation.
The women of #MadrasiCamp are part of Delhi’s invisible workforce—maids who serve the city’s middle & upper classes.
And Delhi’s latest demolition drive has shown just how quickly those people can be forgotten—until someone asks, “Kaam pe kyun nahi ayi? indiatoday.in/india/story/ma…
