120,000+ Tigrayan women + girls have been raped as part of the #TigrayGenocide. They need justice + accountability. We ask that @UN_HRC states get the investigative mechanism operational quickly + fully funded asap. #TigrayCantWait @PLinUN @UN_Ukraine twitter.com/OmnaTigray/sta…

For 500+ days, Tigrayan women + girls have been bearing the brunt of the ongoing #TigrayGenocide. On the basis of their Tigrayan identity, they’ve been raped, starved + killed by the Ethiopian govt + its allies. They’re pleading for the world’s help. Will you stand by them?

#Ethiopia: Rights group says repeated court delays undermine strategic lawsuit on IDPs’ return Human Rights First has criticized repeated delays in a lawsuit it filed before the Federal High Court over the return of internally displaced persons (#IDPs), saying prolonged adjournments are weakening prospects for legal remedies and exposing broader failures in judicial response to displacement-related grievances. The case, first submitted in November last year, has reportedly been adjourned more than ten times, including delays in issuing summonses, which the rights group described as evidence of judicial inefficiency. Speaking to Addis Standard, Tesfalem Berhe, Human Rights First Director said the lawsuit was conceived as a form of strategic litigation aimed at promoting the use of legal mechanisms, rather than political confrontation, to address grievances linked to displacement. He argued that had the court pursued a more strategic and law-driven approach, the case could have contributed to broader efforts to reduce political conflict and reinforce rule-of-law based solutions. addisstandard.com/?p=56647

📢 The elections can’t happen until~1million displaced people return. That’s valid. But here’s the reality: Return is impossible without: •Security •Territorial restoration •Withdrawal of foreign forces None are complete. #TigrayGenocide @UN_HRC @AFP africanews.com/2026/04/08/eth…

📢This is not post-war recovery. This is an ongoing crisis. #TigrayCrisis @Pontifex @LarryMadowo @cnni @geoffreyyork @DeclanWalsh @nimaelbagir @AP @globeandmail

The situation in Tigray demands urgent international attention. Despite the cessation of hostilities, over 1.1 million people remain internally displaced, with many unable to return to their homes due to ongoing insecurity and restricted access. Critical public services have collapsed: •healthcare systems are severely constrained •education has been disrupted, leaving tens of thousands of children out of school •access to food, fuel, and financial services remains limited Reports of deaths due to hunger and lack of medical care in displacement settings are deeply concerning and require immediate action. We respectfully call on the international community, including the United Nations,(@UN), the European Union (@EU_Commission) , and the African Union (@_AfricanUnion ), to: •Facilitate the immediate restoration of humanitarian access •Support the resumption of essential services and budget flows •Ensure safe, voluntary, and dignified return of displaced populations •Promote accountability and sustainable peace mechanisms The people of Tigray have endured immense suffering. Sustained international engagement is essential to prevent further deterioration and to support a just and lasting peace.
