Just got a sneak preview of the Coventry University Transport Design Degree Show thanks to @adrianfclarke. My first time in that building since 1998. Our work was so much more manual back then but the creativity and variety today is notable. Good design still stands out

Hantavirus-26 denialists have fallen victim to foreign-funded misinformation from Russia. They do not believe in science. Many are also racists and misogynists. We need to ask ourselves: What do we do with these people? Wear a mask.

“We’re at actually a critical period,” said Dr. Bonnie Henry. “We know the median incubation period is about 15 to 18 days, so we’re still in a period of time when we may see more cases arise.” globalnews.ca/news/11842613/…

@AdamSinger "successful people get their money by taking it from other people". They've spoon fed that line for a long time. Every successful person I know who've generated wealth by creating are usually the most generous and nicest people. They spread the wealth properly.

Every politician that constantly complains about successful people seems really infantile and unserious. What sort of analysis are the people who work on their comms doing that says it's a good idea? Why purposely try to create division instead of positive unification messages?

We get portfolios and job applications from around the world and one thing I've noticed. They ALL look the same. Algorithmic design is making designers look boring and no portfolio is standing out. They now all feel like my Pinterest feed.

@Lord_Rex2 It's good man. We never get digital design portfolios. I guess it's just an industrial design thing.

@naimonx Probably. We've never posted an ad. We usually hire an ex student I've taught.

I started my design career 28 years today. I still don't know anything and wing everything. But I do know I'm doing my best work. Having the most fun and still don't have a portfolio.

@brianlilley Nope. All modern cars send data back to the OEMs. Go look at why Apple and Ford split.

@Terenceshen @scoopercooper @fordnation All cars spy. That is why Ford and Apple split ways. Ford knows how many people are in the vehicle. The location of your vehicle when you open and close your door. That data is priceless.

Brand-new Chinese EVs have just arrived in Toronto, Canada. Doug Ford @fordnation accurately called them “spy cars.” The Trump administration may not allow them to cross the border into the U.S.

bro thinks design is dying. his portfolio: Niural → niural.com uiAgent → uiagent.co Boon → getboon.ai seems like none of you have ever met a designer.
Gokul Rajaram@gokulr

DESIGN: THE FIRST AI CASUALTY I'm increasingly sure that 2026 signals the end of product design as a full-fledged stand-alone function within companies. If so, it will be the first role / function to be eliminated by AI on a go-forward basis. Instead of hiring FT designers, startups are hiring / will hire design consultants to create a design system that the founder likes (this takes a few weeks max). Once the design system is finalized, PM/Eng feed it into their AI tool of choice to generate prototypes. The design system is refreshed annually by the same consultant. Larger companies will likely not backfill design roles and will do some targeted attrition to reduce the design department to 20% the size it is today. If you're a designer, I think you have two choices: 1. Become an entrepreneur: Start a design agency and become the go-to resource for design systems for startups and even larger companies. This can be a good recurring revenue business. 2. Become a builder: Add PM/Eng responsibilities to become a product builder. Would suggest you embrace this proactively vs waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm really sorry about this - some of my best friends and the people I admire most and have learnt the most from are designers - but it seems inevitable.
