@levelsio @esyx0 Years ago when my brother got married I went to buy him some furniture as a wedding present at a IKEA type store. I needed a CPF for that. Every shop asks of you want to add your tax number to the receipt. There are tax incentives for doing that but it's ridiculous bureaucracy
English

🇧🇷 My friend booked a very nice upscale hotel in Rio de Janeiro
But to pay for the booking online they required to enter a Brazilian taxpayer number (CPF), so he called them and said he doesn't have a CPF
No problem they said, they'll sent a new payment form without CPF where foreigners can enter their passport
This payment for required a Brazilian phone number though
The catch-22? To get a Brazilian phone number you need a CPF number!
And recently the Brazilian government made it much harder for foreigners to get that, in my case I had to physically visit the Brazilian embassy in Lisbon and wait for an hour to get my CPF
So he had to physically go there to pay
Brazil really needs to fix this stuff or it's never going to get more tourists because it's so hard to pay for things here! And it's not just hotels!
Because in everything else Brazil is so hospitable and inviting to gringos
PLEASE FIX THIS BRAZIL!

@ChrisLaubAI @StephenStorey What do you mean. Salvador carnival starts on Thursday and goes on till the early hours of Ash Wednesday
English

@StephenStorey Yeah they kind of concentrate it all into one big one right? Instead of Rio's super spread out ones...

@LostInThe1980s @ABridgen On their website it says Freemason, so it's not an American version

English

Sigh, it’s just called the Masons. Free Masons is the American version. Entry requirements are no criminal convictions and good social standing. ANYONE CAN JOIN!!!
Masons became more secretive after WW2 when Hitler had all the German Masons imprisoned or worse.
@ABridgen, why does it matter who is a member of an organisation anyone can join???
I love what you do for the vaccine etc btw.

Dear @TicketmasterUK and @BonJovi fuck your stupid "select seat" system, just allocate the ticket so we don't waste an hour selecting seats for them to be taken, absolute bell ends.

@Based_Jedi @ChefGruel If you have any Brazilian butchers near you they will sell it
English

@ChefGruel I don't think I've ever seen a flanken rib in a grocery store. Is there possibly some other name they're sold under, Chef?

We are absolutely over the moon to share the wonderful news that an elephant calf has been born at Blackpool Zoo 🐘
An incredible moment for the zoo and for everyone who loves these gentle giants 🤍
Here’s the official statement:
“Tara gave birth to a healthy female calf at 10:30pm on Tuesday, 2nd September. The team has named her Zaiya, which is of Burmese origin and means strength.
“After years of strategic planning, preparations had been made in order to carefully manage and mitigate challenges that may arise during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal care surrounding such a rare event.
“This knowledge, along with the close positive relationships the team have with the herd, meant that when the baby was born and had difficulty suckling, they were able to act quickly.
“They provided vital support for the first-time mum, expressing milk from her to ensure the calf received the necessary colostrum that is essential to provide antibodies that are rich in nutrition to help to protect newborns.
“Since the birth, the keepers have provided 24-hour monitoring and support and will continue to do so in the coming months.
“The indoor house has been closed to allow privacy to the herd, enabling them to develop crucial bonds with its newest member. It is set to gradually reopen from Saturday, 27th September, between 11.30am and 2.30pm.”

@VinegarYardLDN went to the place for food and drinks. Bought drinks on one side and then could t get into the other side to collect my food order. What kind of policy is that. Not very customer friendly

@Veek321 @MyLatinLife No. We had a lot of migration to Brazil in the late 1800
English

@nomadgeist @0x_danb @MyLatinLife Actually it was in the late 1800 when the government offered land, tools and animals to migrants to settle there. They were given a plot to clear, materials to build a house. This was a time when the economic situation in Germany and Italy and other parts of Europe was not good
