I Left Two Religions: Islam and Palestine I am a convert twice over. Once, from Islam to Christianity, and once from Palestine to truth. I rejected Islam at 18, when I realized it was not a divine faith but a political movement, engineered by a 7th-century Arabian warlord who erased my ancestors’ civilization and converted them by force. But there was another religion I was following, that religion's name was Palestine. Like Islam, the religion of Palestine has its prophet, Yasser Arafat, wrapped in keffiyeh. Its prophet had companions, the warlords and ideologues of the so-called resistance. It has its book, not written in ink, but broadcast daily across Arabic media: a scripture of propaganda, martyrdom, half-truths. And like Islam, it demands global conversion. This faith doesn’t care for archaeology. It doesn’t care for history. It doesn’t care for Jewish lineage, Jewish exile, Jewish return. It hijacks the Jewish story and paints the Jews as colonizers in their own homeland. Just like Islam hijacked Judaism and Christianity, Palestinianism hijacked Jewish history and draped it in the robes of Arab grievance. It teaches its followers to see the world through one lens: victim and oppressor. It casts itself as the eternal victim and the Jew as the eternal criminal. It has its rituals and prayers: marching in lockstep, the keffiyeh draped like priestly garb, and the chant “Khaybar, Khaybar” echoed like a sacred liturgy of hate. It draws from an endless reservoir of fury, renewed with every myth, every martyr, every grievance retold as gospel. Palestinianism is a religion of reverse morality. This religion shapes the global narrative. It baptizes jihad as resistance. It canonizes jihadists as martyrs. It teaches children to chant death. It trains the world to apologize for Jewish existence. I left this religion because I saw that supporting Israel was not betrayal, it was repentance. Repentance from a theology of envy. Repentance from a politics of death. Repentance from decades of being told that no truth can exist that contradicts the myth. I left Palestine because I chose reality.

On the morning of October 7, when the alarms sounded, Ohad and Sandra entered the children's bedroom. The two boys were asleep, and Mila had just woken up. When Hamas terrorists entered their home and tried to break down the door, Ohad did everything he could to protect his family. Mila was shot dead when the terrorists fired into the bedroom. Sandra's mother was seriously injured. The terrorists set the house on fire, and when the family tried to escape through the window, Ohad, Mila's father, was shot dead. After murdering Mila and Ohad, the terrorists tried to kidnap Sandra and her children Liam and Dylan, some of whom were injured, and lead them towards the cemetery gate outside the kibbutz, but thanks to a distraction, they managed to escape and hide. Mila was the youngest victim that day. May the memory of Ohad and Mila be blessed.

What Actually Happened • Date and location: May 25, 2018 (nearly 8 years ago), at the Al-Zaim (A’Zaim) checkpoint near Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank. • Victim: Karam Qawasmi, a 22-year-old Palestinian man (not a child/“youth”). He survived the incident, was hospitalized, and later spoke publicly about it. • What occurred: After a security check, officers told him to “get out” / “go.” As he walked away (hands raised, ~20 seconds later), a Border Police officer fired a sponge-tipped bullet (a non-lethal crowd-control round, not live sniper ammunition) into his back at relatively close range. He screamed in pain and fell. • Not IDF “long-range shooting practice”: This was Israeli Border Police (paramilitary unit handling checkpoints), not regular army soldiers in a combat operation. No long-range rifle or “target practice” — it was a single unnecessary shot during a checkpoint interaction. Legal Outcome The female Border Police officer who fired was charged with assault and reckless use of a weapon. In June 2020, she pleaded guilty in Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court and was convicted (physical assault, reckless use of weapon, obstruction of justice). The judge described the act as done “as a form of dubious entertainment.” She faced up to 3 years but the exact sentence isn’t detailed in public reports. This was not ignored — Israeli authorities investigated after the video leaked in 2019, prosecuted, and convicted the officer. Hamas congratulate their people for hurting or killing J00s. Israelis convict people for firing non-lethal rubber bullets at Palestinian criminals. There is an apartheid but it isn't israel

All women except Israelis and the brave women fighting the Iranian regime. Ten years ago I would have felt the same way - and marched with you. I did march against Israel’s actions in Gaza in 2014. I was a member of Jewish Voice for Peace - I was a Jewish anti-Zionist. Everything changed with the murders, rapes, and abductions of 7 October 2023 and the terrifying worldwide resurgence of violent antisemitism, hiding behind criticism of the Israeli government with which many Israelis agree. I never thought this could happen again. I don’t know whether I used to be naive or the world has changed - but I guess I am a Zionist now. And marching alongside Hamas supporters and other antisemites, waving flags of the abominable Iranian regime, not to mention the gender identity zealots (!) - would have filled me with shame. And many of us remember FiLiA castigating and condemning women who made a very similar argument for marching for a different cause - alongside those with a different set of disreputable beliefs. It is rank hypocrisy.
