Historic milestone today Saturday 10th June, as @_AfricanUnion Commission signs the African Medicine Agency (AMA) Host Agreement with the government of Rwanda. AMA will serve as a continental body providing regulatory leadership for a harmonized regulatory systems in Africa.

KEMRI has detected a new mosquito species in Kenya. It’s resistant to locally used insecticides and has the potential to transmit malaria throughout the year, unlike traditional malaria-causing mosquitoes. It is also now present in Djibouti, Nigeria, Somalia, Ethiopia and Sudan.

The African Medicines Agency #AMA will evaluate & decide on selected medical products, including complex molecules, for the treatment of priority #diseases as determined by the @_AfricanUnion & @WHO. To date 30 Member States have signed & 23 ratified the AMA Treaty. Infographic👇
