Trump’s Department of Agriculture is choosing to use food as a political tool, weaponizing it against the people who need it most.

They are choosing to keep Americans hungry.

It’s just plain cruel.

Hunger is a policy choice. As a food and hunger crisis is being manufactured by the White House—New Mexico is stepping up to ensure our families are fed. From our SNAP Back Act in the House, to the Senate, to our Governor & State Legislature, to our Attorney General and food banks, we are working on all fronts to make sure New Mexicans can put food on the table. Because—in New Mexico, we take care of each other—and that’s exactly what we’re doing!

Today is Day 30 of the Republican shutdown. Your regular reminders: 1. Republicans control the White House, Senate and House. 2. GOP making deep cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and ACA. 3. Democrats are fighting to lower costs, cancel the cuts and save healthcare for Americans.

Trump is playing political games and is willing to let kids go hungry. He's planning to hold back SNAP benefits on November 1, even though he's got the money and the power to send them out. If they don't send the funds, we'll see them in court. Help us spread the word and keep the pressure up!

First, Republicans cut $168 billion from SNAP. Now, Trump has ordered @USDA not to use emergency funds as SNAP runs dry. He can find $40B for his right-wing buddy in Argentina & $300M for a golden ballroom, but nothing for 42 million Americans who need food. Shameful.

The law requires President Trump to continue SNAP. He's making an intentional decision to withhold SNAP benefits from folks who desperately need it.

Trump’s own lawyers said emergency funding must be used for nutrition assistance during a shutdown. @USDA just deleted that memo & is now planning to illegally cancel SNAP. Republicans are using hungry families as political leverage. It’s disgusting.

Trump could feed hungry families if he wanted to. He is CHOOSING not to and instead using them as a bargaining chip. Come Saturday, when families find out their food stamps have been taken away, they’ll know who to blame.

The Fed is meeting to set interest rates, and they’ll have to do it without a full picture of what’s really happening to workers and families. That’s reckless. Trump needs to release the jobs report now. Families deserve the facts about the economy, not more lies from Trump.

Since the Administration is refusing to help Americans in need, we are standing by to vote for bills to ensure continued access to food assistance. Why won’t Republicans call up these bills for a vote? They'd rather let kids go hungry than risk a vote on the Epstein files.

Republicans would rather hammer away at the Biden Administration than face the reality of the Trump Administration. Grocery, utility, and health care prices are exploding under this President, but he’s more focused on building his new ballroom than lowering your costs.
