@Shadonater @beyoncegarden What would you call someone who was born and grew up in Canada if not Canadian? She emigrated to the UK when she met my grandpa at 18 (he was in the RAF). Her heritage is complicated (she was given to a children’s home and adopted age 7) and we have no records of her parentages.

@beyoncegarden I mean she’s not German (neither born there nor lives/d there). She’s an American with German heritage (through her mum), the same way that my dad is not Canadian despite having a Canadian mum and being eligible for Canadian citizenship.
