Todd Gurley says that after his injury during the Auburn game in 2014, a booster paid him $100k “cause he felt bad”. Via @PeteNokos “Man this dude gave me 100 bands after I tore my ACL. He gave me a hug and told me he felt bad. That was the most cash I’ve ever seen.”

@SenThomTillis I have a bigger problem w/the Trump amnesty than the fund. The people that happened to be in the area (not in building) & were arrested did not deserve to be prosecuted. Their legal bills should be returned as well as the legal bills of some people the Jan 6 committee prosecuted.

Despite comments as late as yesterday that the fund is dead, President Trump clearly intends to resurrect the payout pot for punks either by inappropriately establishing another bogus fund or pushing Congress to vote for a bill that the majority of Republicans in the Senate would be against. It’s unfortunate that Todd Blanche, who I consider qualified for the job, will not be confirmed because of this reversal. Hopefully, we can resolve this by Tuesday.
Julie Tsirkin@news_jul

President Trump’s insistence that his anti-weaponization fund is not only not going away, but now he wants LEGISLATION to codify it, is exactly why Senators Cornyn and Tillis wouldn’t take Todd Blanche’s word for it:

@pmd_reports @MZHemingway Crap like this is why he got trounced in his primary. Wasn’t worth the six year risk. Neither is Ms Graham though I’m thrilled she gets to finish out Lindsey’s term. Note: Trump doesn’t pick nominees based on electability. He picks them based on whether they liked him or not.

FLASHBACK: John Cornyn announces on January 26, 2021 that he will support Merrick Garland’s Attorney General nomination. “I appreciated his commitment to keep politics out of the Justice Department.” Now he is committed to derailing Todd Blanche, President Trump's AG pick.

In the latest Fox News poll, Democratic state Rep. James Talarico leads Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton 51%–48% in the race for Texas’s U.S. Senate seat. Brian Kilmeade: “And one of the problems Paxton has is character. Where did his money come from? His personal problems. His divorce is very public… Fox News did the same poll and they said, ‘Are you extremely or very concerned that Paxton lacks character?’ 59% said yes. ‘Is Talarico too extreme?’ 47% say yes.”

.@kaitlancollins: The biggest change in the outlets that cover Trump is how the White House has filled the press pool with a lot of people who ask friendly questions. I don't like when people use those moments to ask a question that is not producing a response from someone in the highest office in the land, a taxpayer funded individual. There is not as much follow up inside those Oval Office moments as there used to be.

NEW @CookPolitical: 2026 mid-decade redistricting has yielded a House map that's more Republican and less elastic. We're out w/ our new PVI scores, and Dems now need to win 57 of 77 seats in the R+5 to D+5 range (74%) to win a House majority. cookpolitical.com/cook-pvi/intro…

Debating the conduct of Rod Dreher is important if Rod Dreher is the main issue. But it's also a distraction from the fact that Dreher is right about JD Vance. Which seems to me rather more important.

There is nothing new under the sun. The socialist movement with the Democrat Party is recycling policies — from wealth taxation to government-run grocery stores — that been tried and failed in socialist countries in the past.
