They did not win elections on some vaguely-anarchic vibes and *then* build a welfare state.

@WateryLn @DuncanStott £15/hour is more of a starting apprentice wage. Average is closer to ~£18 - 20/hour, with up to ~£32/hour overtime. Obviously the salary itself is only part of a cost of employing someone, too.

The biggest operating cost of a bus network is its drivers' wages. Self-driving buses would be transformative to the economics of expanding bus service reach and frequency. I'm far more excited about this than self-driving cars.

For the first time in Norwegian history, a bus will carry passengers in regular traffic without any human behind the wheel. The first pilot without a safety driver was tested Friday, and if all goes as planned, anyone can ride driverless buses starting in May.

I believe what I see-- and M1 played past video clips of them announcing at different times MP and Tisza were invited to appear and declined, and mentioned today was they have all the email communication proving this. You dont make that statement on live TV if you can't back it up, and MP was nervous as hell, obviously. So yeah-- I believe it.

And no, the latter does not make sense. It would massively slow and reduce development, in a housing crisis.

@TheCadoc @mattyglesias Because they're the ones who will need, and benefit from, the provision of proper services in the area. If you can build a cheap housing development with no GPs or local shops or a slightly more expensive one with those things, then the latter makes much more sense.
