Isn’t it strange how many govt facts change over time. Views are my own & subject to change on a whim or decent factual evidence

Spain leads Europe in two categories: youth unemployment, which makes it really difficult for young people to start families and have children, and immigration. How do these two reconcile? Can someone explain the logic behind that? And what’s going on in Italy?

A bride could be married without saying one word, in the secrecy of a private home, on an officiant's judgement of what her silence meant - this is monstrous for vulnerable women. When I called for one marriage law for all, I didn't mean sharia! gov.uk/government/con…

It has been the greatest privilege of my life, coming from humble beginnings in Tottenham, to serve in government as @Keir_Starmer’s Foreign Secretary, Justice Secretary and Britain’s first Black Deputy Prime Minister. I am immensely proud of what we achieved, in Opposition and in Government. As Foreign Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister, I helped rebuild Britain’s relationships with our European allies after the catastrophic Brexit years, stood steadfastly with Ukraine in its darkest hours, championed a new partnership of equals with the Global South and was proud to play a leading role in Britain’s recognition of the State of Palestine. I worked to secure the Special Relationship with the United States in a new era and deepened our partnerships with the Gulf and India to deliver trade, growth and security for the British people. As Justice Secretary and Lord Chancellor, I put record investment in our courts to begin stabilising the backlog for victims left waiting too long for justice, put in changes to take our prisons back from the brink to prevent a collapse in prison capacity ever again, put massive investment in the probation service and victims and helped deliver the Hillsborough Law. I also put in place a new approach to improving the diversity of our judiciary and made the Ministry of Justice a Whitehall leader in harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence. I would have been proud to continue serving in Cabinet. But a new Prime Minister is entitled to build his own team, and I wish @AndyBurnham and the new Cabinet every success. I will continue to serve the great people of Tottenham, support this Labour government from the backbenches and do everything I can to help defeat Reform again at the next general election.

Can local councils be trusted to follow the EHRC Code of Practice on single-sex spaces? WRN Executive Director Heather Binning joined @joshxhowie on Free Speech Nation this evening to discuss our report The Waiting Shame which revealed the extent of non-compliance with the law. ‘Waiting for guidance’ won’t wash anymore. youtu.be/rr1avM15IZU

It has been quite depressing to see how many people have tried to behave as if this is either not true ie @neso_energy hasn't done anything wrong, or that it's not a big thing if they did The reality is that a group of engineers decided their concerns over grid safety were stronger than their concerns for their jobs NESO is now saying the report sent to the Times showing FIVE transmission constraints being breached was just a preliminary version, implying the final one showed no constraints were violated Somehow every single one turned out to be fine later on That simply doesn't seem credible to me. A more likely explanation would be that NESO management is still trying to cover up the fact the grid was insecure on 23 June @Ed_Miliband @ClaireCoutinho @AndrewBowie_MP @griffitha @NJ_Timothy @TiceRichard @DavidGHFrost @mattwridley @cmackinlay @Iromg @AllisonPearson @MerrynSW @EdConwaySky @mattotele @jonathan_leake @afneil @ofgem @energygovuk
