La autocustodia no es crear 12 palabras, enviar fondos y olvidarte. Es hacerte reponsable de la creación, gestion y respaldo de tu "caja fuerte", además de usar un esquema robusto que te proteja en las peores situaciones. Para ello hay que invertir tiempo para entender y aplicar.

The only "real solution" is to use real entropy for your keys. Literally. Full stop. No way around it.
Reality literally gives you a very few options to implement this solution:
1) you review the software/firmware yourself (and you mostly pray about the hardware),
2) you minimize risk by mixing different software/hardware/external sources (default multisig like BitKey or Jade, rolling dices, etc.),
3) you use social and market heuristics to decide to trust a vendor, hoping they have their shit together.
People who did 3 with Coldcard were unlucky this time around.
You aren't entitled to a better deal, and crying harder and "threatening Bitcoin" to get back to fiat if it doesn't become easy enough for you, will not force reality to bend to your tantrum and give you some magic shortcut.

Gente, el problema de los random number generators solo está ahora visible en coldcard porque la vulnerabilidad fue identificada
Pero puede estar sucediendo ahora mismo en un sinfín de wallets entonces usen passphrase como una medida extra de protección y si pueden no utilicen la seedphrase propuesta aunque ya eso es más avanzado y no todos lo soportan

If you’ve noted my recent posts, you can tell that I’m traveling in Europe with my family right now. I stayed up for a while last night but forced myself to go to bed around midnight, before the specifics of the CC entropy vulnerability had been widely discovered. My heart hurts for any bitcoiner who was affected by the UTXO sweeps, we all work very hard and make sacrifices to save as much bitcoin as we can, because we deeply believe in the possibilities and the larger mission. There will be plenty of time to post mortem and debate best practices, but please remember that at a certain level we’re all basically on the same team and want bitcoin to win. I’m going to continue to consciously try to focus on family over these last couple days of our trip, but may still comment here and there as questions arise. Just please try to remember there are real people who are on the other side of the keyboard, and real people who have lost savings and are hurting. Appreciate you all. 🧡

Passphrases, generar entropía propia y/o multisig, son procedimientos fáciles de entender y que se pueden usar. Aplicarlos, es verdad, requiere paciencia y tranquilidad. No salir corriendo ahora.

@maxifirtman En el 2005 en un proyecto tuvimos la fabulosa idea de scanear muchos manuales para un proyecto. No quedaba otra que desarmarlos y luego a los volvimos a encuadernar. Era algo casero.

Entiendo el quiebre romántico que da la imagen de la destrucción de libros para entrenar una IA que luego nos venden.
Es una imagen fuerte sobre el futuro al que vamos. Lo entiendo.
Pero no se me ocurre cómo podrías frenar que alguien que compra un libro no pueda hacer lo que quiera con ese ejemplar.
¿Se podría definir algo así como libro en vías de extinción que requiera preservación por parte de los Estados y cuidados especiales para los compradores? 🤔 ¿Serviría de algo?
No queda claro tampoco cuántos de los libros que están siendo destruidos por estas empresas entran en esa categoría de "raros". Muchos imagino que son libros de los cuales existirán muchos ejemplares pero que nadie los compra hace años y están distribuidos en esas enormes librerías de usados por todo el mundo.
Sabemos que Anthropic y SpaceXAI están haciendo esto pero seguramente sean todas a través de agencias.

WTF AI companies are purchasing large quantities of used and rare books. Scanning their contents to train models. Then turning the originals to pulp. The sum of human thought, digitized and shredded. Every book that gets scanned disappears from the physical world permanently. The knowledge survives only as training data inside a system no one can hold, browse, or resell. What used to sit on a shelf for centuries now exists as weights in a model that might get deprecated next quarter.
