@daylit_ai raised $110M at seed and started by buying financial assets out of their own pockets. Co-founder Jerry Shu told me the biggest lesson from building is that doing more is not the solution. Do less but do it very well. Which is a crazy advice from someone at that stage. They build AI agents for accounts receivable. Send an invoice. Get paid within a day. Great point made by @chamath at 13:30 regarding the SaaS feature hamster wheel. R&D on new products or variants seems to be a never ending expense. It always seems like you're one feature away from a "Killer App." Building these features ground up is partly to blame for the evasive margin expansion in the tech sector. The early entrepreneurs understand the trade off between budget and output. As companies grow and middle management swells, politics take over and ROI drops. Huge challenge! Fortunately, vertical SaaS across all industries and sizes are seeing the value in embedded lending products - learning from industry leaders like Shopify, Toast, and Square - and smartly have begun integrating third parties, such as @GoLendica, instead of building on their own.
