@EYakoby Sadly - hugely sadly - what Trump says/does does matter while he is in power. Israel can only do its horrendous acts with US militarily financial support. Israel has become a rogue state - but so is the US, with the UK too scared to stand up and be counted - well, so far.

BREAKING: President Trump on French President Macron wanting to recognize a Palestinian state: "Here’s the good news, what he says doesn’t matter. His statement doesn’t carry any weight."

@MarkSeddon1962 Sadly, as we well know, while recognizing a Palestinian state is good, Gaza/West Bank lives will continue to be destoyed, horrendously, until one day (ever?) US withdraws its support for Israel's appalling actions. At least, I guess, no longer can Israel claim right on its side.

147 of the UN's 193 members recognise the State of Palestine. Soon to be joined by France. The sooner Britain and others start facing up to this hectoring bully, the better.

Do you remember Audrey White? She's the 76-year-old activist from Liverpool who told Keir Starmer to his face that he's a liar and a fraud. Audrey was arrested today under the Terrorism Act for holding a placard alongside her brother and a priest.

@EuropeanPowell Thanks for showing this depressing silencing of Audrey by a 'labour' home secretary. Do Cooper et al close their eyes to how appalled they are when such things happen in Russia, Iran et al? Are they scared of calling out the US for (in effect) enabling Israel to ruin Gaza's?

This is Audrey White, who I became friends with on Twitter and who is the secretary of the Merseyside Pensioners Group, she and Felicity Dowling both invited me to Liverpool last February to speak about deregulated free zones at the Liverpool BBC Studios. Today in Liverpool, Audrey was arrested and forcibly removed by 3 Police Officers for supporting Palestine Action against Israel’s genocide, she could go to prison for 14 years. @simonmaginn Sad, horrific indeed, how language is abused to seek to justify silencing those who speak the truth - re the horrendous destruction of lives in Gaza, West Bank et al. Worse still is UK content to supply arms to Israel and to support US...after all, Israel's power derives from US

First they screamed 'Antisemite!'. But we could see these people were not antisemites. Now they scream 'Terrorist!'. And, again, we can see these people are not terrorists. Everyone can see it. So what comes next? How will they silence us now?

Starmer, Cooper et al astonishingly seem able to live happily while supporting Israel and its destruction of Gazans and Palestinians in West Bank. @TomLondon6 Quilte so - but worse.. Western leaders, notably US but also UK etc...are still supplying weapons/components etc and, indeed, political weasel words. So depressing... and now UK even deems a peace group for Palestinian rights as 'terrorists'.
