They’re not trading Thomas. They want to trade Kyrou. They set the price for for Thomas so high no one will touch it but it’ll help the ask for Kyrou because even if it’s high it’s not as bad as Thomas. Sellers strategy
Thomas is only 25/26 with a great contract. He’s th type you can build around and they already have young players they’re counting on as the new core
English

Yeah if the Blues are turning that down for Robert Thomas, they’re not realistically trading him

The Minnesota Wild went after Robert Thomas and offered up Danila Yurov and Jesper Wallstedt at the deadline, but the Blues passed 👀 (via @RussoHockey)
English

@OnlyCardsFans If crooks gets called up to replace a catcher it will be to replace Herrera more than pagesand make Herrera the full time DH
English

not trying to rag on Ryan, who admits he made a mistake with these numbers, but there are a lot of people with this mindset.
Yes, a super high K-rate limits your ceiling tremendously.
Mostly fans have been clamoring for him to replace Pages, and that’s a low floor offensively.
Ryan@The_Ryan_Shull
38.7% K rate… Until he gets that down we’re locked in with Pages & Pozo.
English

@ThomasWalterMc @stlanalytics You take the best player available no matter what position. If the best player is available is a winger you take them then move them later for a player of need like they did last off-season moving Bolduc for Mailloux.
English

@stlanalytics Any scenario with us taking a winger with either 11 or 15 is a failure.
English

@stlanalytics Yea I don't see the reason to move up unless your moving up with the 15th pick. You are guaranteed a pretty good player at 11 no matter what.
English

@Jobek96 @PassingDrill Yea Seattle needs defense prospects pretty bad and they are almost guaranteed one of verhoff, Carel, or Smitz.
English

@PassingDrill That’d be nice. Don’t know Seattle would want to drop that far tho. They don’t have many difference makers so they’re likely holding that pick to try and get one. If not move up themselves.
Florida on the other hand…
English

@Partemish28 @stlanalytics And stenberg is almsot NHL ready. It would be pretty dumb for sharks to trade away the pick for kyrou when stenebrg is the better player and isn't far off from NHL ready. Would make more since to trad back to 3-4 spot if they want a defenseman
English

@stlanalytics A Kyrou trade would be intriguing. The Sharks would get a player in his prime which lines up with the Sharks' current window and minimizes draft risk.
Problem is, not only is Stenberg a safe draft, but he projects as cost-controlled into their lineup right away.
English

@EricMattingly1 @STLBluesViews trading any higher than 8 would be insanely expensive and not really worth it. Rather just keep the 3 picks and use the assets later if there isn't anyone they like before the draft.
English

@STLBluesViews I think you trade up if possible but only using one of either 11 or 15 but not both unless you’re getting number 1 or 2. I also wouldn’t trade any of our top prospects. Picks and 1 or 2 from Binner, Kyrou, Buch, Neighbors, Tucker, Kessel to get a NHL ready this year or next.
English

Barring a trade-up, this will be the 18th straight year STL doesn’t have a single-digit (top-9) pick in the draft. The longest stretch in the NHL by far.
There’s still plenty of options with picks 11, 15, and anywhere from 27 to 31. The scouts have earned our trust. #STLBlues
English

@Ferrario101ESPN I don't see those teams trading themselves out of the top ten. Does treally make since for them especially inna draft like this.
English

If I’m #stlblues, I’m doing everything I can (that isn’t crazy) to try and trade for SJ, NYR or SEA’s pick
Elliotte Friedman@FriedgeHNIC
Post-lottery draft order: 1) Toronto 2) San Jose 3) Vancouver 4) Chicago 5) Rangers 6) Calgary 7) Seattle 8) Winnipeg 9) Florida 10) Nashville 11) St. Louis 12) New Jersey 13) Islanders 14) Columbus 15) St. Louis (from Detroit) 16) Washington
English

@Jonboy9002 @Mithex06251754 @domluszczyszyn Wouldn't have been in the position to get offersheeted if they didn't max themselves out in the first place without signing broberg and holloway first and have to low ball them. Being maxed out in cap space is what made offersheeting them super easy.
English

@irocz11 @Mithex06251754 @domluszczyszyn It was under 7 million for both. Yes, they could have. They could have put Evander Kane on the LTIR and moved some to the AHL and kept them both.
English

@Jonboy9002 @Mithex06251754 @domluszczyszyn But Jeff jackson maxed out the Oilers in cap space on July 1st with the admission and skinner deals (which turned out to be terrible deals) without leaving any room for broberg and holloway.
English

@NathanGraviteh Kept him under 8 mil which was my hope with the injury history so I'll take it!
English

We all talk about Dylan Holloway's breakout season last year, going from 9 points to 63 points, but Holloway in an *underrated* way IMPROVED on his points per game this season.
This could be sneaky good value. #STLBlues
Chris Johnston@reporterchris
Dylan Holloway signs a five-year extension with #stlblues carrying a $7.75M AAV.
English

Blues sign Dylan Holloway to a 5 year extension $7.75 AAV #stlblues
Year 1 $10,000,000
Year 2 $9,000,000
Year 3 $7,500,000
Year 4 $6,250,000
Year 5 $6,000,000
Trade Protection in years 4 and 5
English

@SunnySuperFan__ @NHLRumourReport Dallas has 11 mil in cap space already. Just need to dump a couple mil and they will be fine just may have a rough year depth wise next year.
English

@NHLRumourReport Well yeah. The question is how? They can't both pay him and roster a full team unless they move Seguin who has a NMC.
English

@MilyaBee @fiportmgr @UmpScorecards Oh really? Lol. I didn't start watching till the 3rd so I wasn't sure when exactly

@fiportmgr @UmpScorecards Pittsburgh i think used one really early in the game and failed so they were scared to challenge the rest of the game
English

@AngryCops Add onto that the concern of electric bills going up more than they already are since data centers consume A TON of power it makes communities very against them.
English

@AngryCops Big thing in my opinion is they don't bring anything to the local community. Don't bring any jobs and are a eye sore. Local communities would rather see farm land be torn up for something that actually helps the community not for someone that isn't even located in the same state
English

@stlanalytics Depends how the goalie market shakes out. If a younger goalie becomes avaible as a good longer term option with hofer I would try to move binner. There is quite a few teams that are carrying a lot of goalies.
English

Ditto this situation but for Binnington. They can just keep him and he’ll almost certainly bounce back as the backup. Not like you’ll get much for him trading him anyways
Sam@stlanalytics
You know, blues could easily just keep 25 and get an easy 30-70 with great possession defense numbers next season 🤷♂️
