In the event of a Russian attack on Europe, Poland is obliged to hold the Suwalki Corridor and become the backbone of NATO in the Baltic states The Suwalki Corridor (or Suwałki Gap) is a narrow ~65 km strip of land on the Poland-Lithuania border, squeezed between Russia’s Kaliningrad exclave and Belarus. It is NATO’s only land connection to the Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia). If Russia/Belarus seized it, the Baltics would be isolated from the rest of the Alliance. Moreover, Warsaw is already integrated into Latvia’s defense. Heavy equipment troops have been deployed in the country.

Once again, regardless of whether you think that ChatGPT understands anything or not, I think this argument is confused. To say that it can't possibly understand anything because it was only trained to "predict the next word" is just as idiotic as saying that humans can't understand anything because they were "trained" to survive and spread their genes. This line of argument seems to boil down to the idea that, unless something works roughly in the same way as the human brain, it can't really be intelligent, but just as the same software can run on very different types of hardware there is no reason to think that human-like intelligence couldn't be implemented in very different ways.

People often say a wing generates lift because the air over the top has a longer path and therefore must move faster. That explanation is wrong. Lift comes from the pressure field created as the wing redirects air downward. The wing’s shape and angle of attack lower the pressure above the wing and keep it higher below, producing an upward force. During landing, spoilers are raised to disturb that smooth upper-surface flow and kill part of the lift.

Hubble Space Telescope estimates suggested 100–200 billion galaxies in the observable universe. Newer research (2016 onward) indicates there could be up to 2 trillion galaxies. Fact: Our galaxy, the Milky Way, alone has 100–400 billion stars. Many of those stars have planets, some in the habitable zone. Multiply that across hundreds of billions (or trillions) of galaxies.

I would guess this concept is applicable to any challenging academic field. For example, It's the same for the theoretical side of medicine. Sure, technically, you could study for the USMLE for fun using online resources, but realistically no one is going to do flashcards and practice problems all day for years just for the love of the game. I literally had to ignore my family and friends for months at a time, alter my eating habits and schedule, etc., just to pass. It's one of the many reasons I get frustrated with health influencers who try to compete with doctors because they read a few studies or an anatomy book one time.

I have met exactly one person who self studied a large portion of their initial physics education and is now professionally employed doing physics. That person is a generational genius. For most people, the structure/accountability of a college environment is crucial for learning anything challenging (private tutor would work too, but no one does that).

@ji_stark @AirlifeX @airlinerslive The only people "who learn that at the gate" are those who ignore the multiple indications of included baggage sizes whilst booking and checking in. No doubt these people will continue to do the same, and bring bags that are too large or heavier than the proposed 7kg.

🚨EasyJet CEO Slams the new EU Law as a "Lunatic Idea" 👇 The European Parliament vote mandating FREE carry-on luggage for all passengers is officially proceeding, and airline executives are unhappy. The new legislation requires airlines flying in and out of the EU to guarantee every passenger one larger carry-on bag and a smaller bag, free of charge. Consumer rights groups view the legislation as a success for travelers tired of extra fees. However, easyJet Chief Executive Kenton Jarvis has strongly criticized the proposal, labelling it a "lunatic idea" and "crazy European legislation." Under the proposed rules, travellers will be permitted a 7kg carry-on bag with combined dimensions of up to 100cm, alongside a smaller under-seat personal item, without facing extra charges. For years, budget carriers like Ryanair and easyJet have used an unbundled pricing model. By charging separately for options like larger cabin bags and seat selection, they offer extremely low base fares, which does allow millions of people to travel cheaply. If this legislation becomes law, airlines will lose a large portion of their secondary revenue. For easyJet, baggage fees accounted for a major part of their £2.5 billion extras income last year. The loss of this income means airlines will likely raise base ticket prices for everyone to recover the costs. In addition to the financial impact, airline executives state the rule is operationally impossible. Jarvis noted that aircraft lack the physical space in the overhead bins to hold a suitcase for every passenger. In a recent interview, he stated, "There just isn't the space in the cabin, so that's another lunatic idea." He added that this would force staff to offload cabin bags into the hold, which causes major boarding delays. For passengers, this legislation could result in more expensive tickets and longer wait times at the gate. What are your thoughts on these changes? 👇

@AirlifeX @airlinerslive so explain how baggage is often more expensive than a ticket and usually person learns that at the gates it's the same as when EU enforced rules that flights from EU must guarantee overnight stays in case of flight delays and cancellation . And now it works just fine

CEO is 100% right : it's a classic EU 'good intentions' disaster. Forcing free big carry-ons on budget airlines ignores basic physics: overhead bins aren't magic. Expect slower boarding, more gate chaos, and yes, higher base fares as the ancillaries that kept tickets cheap disappear. Passengers win 'free' bags but lose low fares and on-time departures. Classic regulation that hurts the exact low-cost model millions rely on. Should've left it to competition instead of mandating one-size-fits-all nonsense.

Calculating the speed and position of a moving object in everyday life is relatively easy. We can measure the speed of a car traveling at 60 km/h or a turtle crawling at 0.5 km/h and determine their position at the same time. However, in the quantum world of particles, making these calculations is impossible due to the uncertainty principle. The uncertainty principle states that we cannot know both the position and the speed of a particle, such as a photon or an electron, with complete accuracy. In fact, the more precisely we determine a particle’s position, the less accurately we can know its speed, and vice versa. This means that if we could shrink a turtle to the size of an electron, we would only be able to precisely measure either its speed or its location at a given moment, but not both simultaneously. The Heisenberg uncertainty principle is one of the fundamental concepts of quantum physics.
