Thank you @SecRubio for raising these important issues with the UNSG, especially how critical it is to move Luke Lindberg forward quickly as head of WFP. As you said, everyday matters when it comes to hungry children.
Secretary Marco Rubio@SecRubio

Spoke with UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres about advancing @POTUS’ vision for a more effective, efficient, and accountable @UN focused on peace. I emphasized Luke Lindberg is the right leader for @WFP—his appointment is essential to ensuring @UN operates with the transparency and accountability required to feed the world. We also discussed U.S. efforts at the UN to stop Iran’s unlawful actions in the Strait of Hormuz, and how the U.S. rapidly mobilized resources to support the response to the #Ebola outbreak in the DRC and Uganda.

Important @StateDept response. From breakouts of Hantavirus to Ebola, these are real life reminders of why we must continue to invest in global health security — to detect threats, save lives, and stop outbreaks before they reach our shores. state.gov/releases/offic…

Great conversation with Administration officials and others at the @AtlanticCouncil yesterday on harnessing trade & aid to improve lives overseas and secure economic opportunity here at home. I really appreciated @USUN's Dan Negrea who said, "we are not talking about trade instead of aid," as he shared his vision of lifting up trade to build strong economic prosperity. I was honored to share additional thoughts how trade and aid are complementary tools of U.S. economic security and global stability. Watch the full event here: atlanticcouncil.org/event/trade-ov…

Grateful to @LukeJLindberg for joining @usglc - almost three years ago to the day - along w/ other conservative leaders, on a powerful trip to see American leadership in the world and generosity in action at Kenya’s Kakuma refugee camp. All the more appreciative of Luke's reflection on that trip related to his recent nominated to lead @WFP in the below op-ed. With 320 million people around the world facing life-threatening hunger, Luke is spot on about what’s at stake: “not simply the delivery of food, but the preservation of life.” Important read 👇 newsweek.com/no-one-should-…

This is a concerning state @JulianPecquet included in his @TheAfricaReport on how few U.S. Ambassadors in Africa are Senate confirmed (only 14 of 51!) It's one of many reasons Gen. Laura Richardson and I called on the Senate and Administration to swiftly work together to nominate and confirm our Ambassadors - key to 🇺🇸advancing our interests in the 🌎. Read our op-ed here: washingtonexaminer.com/restoring-amer…

The USA is MIA in #AFRICA: With the US ambassador to #Zambia's farewell address last week, 37 of America's 51 embassies on the continent are now without a Senate-confirmed leader. My latest @jeune_afrique @TheAfricaReport: theafricareport.com/415891/trumps-…

Thanks @AmbassadorGreen and @MalariaNoMore's Bill Steiger for great Op-Ed on why U.S. leadership is critical to ending malaria: "Healthier countries are more stable. They are better trading partners. Their economies grow instead of collapsing under the weight of disease."
USGLC@USGLC

"There's a reason malaria programs have had bipartisan support for so long: they work, and they're directly in America's interests." U.S. global health investments have prevented 2.2 bil malaria infections & saved 12.7 mil lives. @AmbassadorGreen & @MalariaNoMore's Bill Steiger explain why the fight to #EndMalaria is critical for America and the world. thehill.com/opinion/health…

ICYMI, new @Gallop poll explored American attitudes on foreign aid - check out the findings: ✅Share of Americans who think we spend “too little” on foreign aid has📈INCREASED 3-fold since early 2000s. What's to count for shift? American's don't want instability in world -- it impacts our economic and security interests at home. With trust that this 1% of federal budget delivers an ROI - to save lives, help 🇺🇸businesses compete overseas, and keeps us safe from terror, drugs, and disease—supporting assistance is the right and smart thing to do.

This afternoon, House Appropriators approved legislation to fund the State Department & international assistance for the upcoming fiscal year : ✅It's a 5% cut - yet still a far cry from the nearly 1/3 cut proposed by the Administration ✅Action now turns to Senate - expect bill to get even stronger Looking forward to building on the strong, bipartisan deal reached just months ago for FY26 - and like last year, working w/Congress in months ahead to ensure America has the tools to compete and win in the world.

Iran has taken online propaganda to a different level as a new playbook for misinformation is emerging. Interesting analysis from @NYTimes on "The Meme War" — an influx of Iranian-led, AI-generated content designed to influence public opinion on the U.S. and Israel, which are going viral with 900 million views and counting. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Any successful developer will tell you that investing in the local community is not peripheral expense, it’s how projects succeed—the same is true for outcompeting China in the critical minerals race.  My latest op-ed below 👇
USGLC@USGLC

🚨China has a chokehold on the critical minerals that power everything from smartphones to satellites. To win this race "the U.S. needs to show up with its full economic, commercial, diplomatic, & assistance toolkit." @LizSchrayer op-ed in @dcexaminer ⬇️ washingtonexaminer.com/op-eds/4536050…

🚨 House Appropriations Chair Cole just released their proposed topline for the upcoming fiscal year, including the State Dept. & international assistance which = $47.3 billion   This is 5% below what a bipartisan majority in Congress approved in February, yet it is well above the Administration’s proposed 1/3 cut to America’s global footprint.   More details once the bill text is published later this week, but as I shared in my written testimony to the subcommittee on Friday, “At a moment of rising global competition and growing instability, diplomacy and international assistance are not a peripheral expense – they are a strategic necessity.”

Great move from @StateDept in the Philippines. The Luzon Corridor in Southeast Asia, like the Lobito Corridor in Africa, will help the U.S. and our allies secure access to the critical minerals that underpin $4 trillion in annual economic activity—helping break our reliance on competitors like China. Thanks @UnderSecE Helberg for pushing these win-win investments.
Under Secretary of State Jacob S. Helberg@UnderSecE

Today we announced plans for a historic 4,000-acre Economic Security Zone in the Philippines—the first AI-native investment acceleration hub under Pax Silica. This purpose-built platform will secure inputs vital to American supply chains and transform how allies manufacture together.

I couldn't agree more with @DFCgov @DFC_CEO Ben Black as he shares his vision @AtlanticCouncil's Africa Forum on transformative U.S. investments in development projects--from the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe after WWII to the Lobito Corridor in Africa today--"are both strategically imperative for America's interests and highly transformative for our partners."
Atlantic Council@AtlanticCouncil

🇺🇸 @DFCgov @DFC_CEO Ben Black: “When it comes to Africa, we are engaging with a straightforward approach, guided by one of America’s most successful examples of economic statecraft: The Marshall Plan.”

When I first met Eliot Engel decades ago as a candidate for Congress, his passion for ensuring the U.S. as a force for good was clear. His tenure as HFAC Chair & Ranking Member stands as a testament, from strengthening our alliances to building more effective and accountable development institutions. He will be deeply missed but his legacy lives on. My full statement below.
USGLC@USGLC

USGLC is deeply saddened by the passing of former Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY), former Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and a steadfast champion of strong U.S. diplomacy, international assistance, and global engagement. Big thanks to @RepHaridopolos, @RepTedYoho, Gen. Newton, Joe Rice, and all who joined for today's very timely conversation. Just hours before Artemis II's return, over 100 Florida leaders gathered to make the case that smart, strategic investments in diplomacy and international assistance are essential to our national security, economic growth, and America's standing in the world. 🇺🇸🚀

As Artemis II prepares to splash down from its mission around the moon, @RepHaridopolos, former B2 pilot Gen. Richard Newton, Fmr. @RepTedYoho & local Florida leaders convened at Kennedy Space Center to discuss how strong U.S. global leadership and international assistance positions America to win — in space and around the world. 🇺🇸🚀 usglc.org/newsroom/rep-m…
