Had such a great time out today catching up with so many @BarnetTories and @BarnetCamdenYC friends after the manifesto launch! Definitely clocked up a fair few steps around Mill Hill too! Lots of positive energy on the doorstep — let’s turn Barnet blue!

Today is my last day as Chairman of @LGBTCons. I wish my great successor @JMulhall1993 and his fab team every success as they continue to grow and support @kemibadenoch as she renews our proud party. I will remain as supportive as I can be, as a member. In reflection it’s impossible to encapsulate the last 3-5 years in the various roles I’ve held but it has been the privilege of a lifetime to be custodian of our group. We are one of the oldest LGBT+ party political groups… possibly in the world. Set up in 1975 we have driven incredible change in this country for the better, from working to end HIV to other incredible successes like Same-Sex Marriage. These have been big shoulders and big successes to stand on - including of course people who were openly LGBT when it really was not fashionable (or even legal) to be so - and I am forever in their debt for their bravery and tenacity. It’s made the Conservative Party what it is today - so thank you. I sincerely hope to have taken good care of our organisation, grown its size, activity, reach and appeal in that time. I hope to have supported great members from application to election - like @Blake_MidBeds. It’s a very different organisation to before I took over. I can see now the next generation of Tories coming through the ranks and see a bright future for the party an organisation. This is the party renewal that @KemiBadenoch has spoken about - and it’s great to see. Looking to the future I see a more thoughtful, more confident and more authentically right wing Conservative party on the ballot for the @Conservatives. We are a party that is serious about the challenges our country faces and has the confidence to use complex solutions to fix complex problems - and reject the tired left wing statist approach that the rest of our country’s parties are offering. We will be honest with the public. We will explain the trade-offs. And we will work bloody hard. We are also the only party with a serious offering for young people. Whilst others are more interested in bashing WFH, almond milk or making jobs unaffordable for employers to hire young people - only the @Conservatives have a bespoke package for young people. This will be crucial to the 2029 election as many people I speak to are now considering voting for us, either for the first time or after a period of voting elsewhere. They see us changing and they want to hear more. I will work on this unapologetic Tory offer in my new role at the @NextGenTories and I am excited to get started with @JamesRCowling next week. I can’t wait to start . Thank you to our members, supporters, donors, Tory MPs past and present, thank you to incredible charities like The @THTorguk and outlets like @ConHome for their partnership. Thank you to @RishiSunak for all the work on HIV, IVF and PrEP trials. Thank you to all our patrons. Thank you to all previous Exec and council. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

If it’s “not trying to be impartial”, then what is it? It’s certainly not news. I’m sorry but the idea that you are able to comment impartially on a topic of which your partner is the Deputy Leader of the party in question is laughable. Wrong when Ed Balls does it. Wrong here.

Absolutely delighted for my residents that the Regent’s Park Road bus lane is cancelled. Reversal starts w/e 24th November. An expensive, unwanted and unwarranted project that made a key Finchley Road a game of Total Wipeout. Now we turn the tide on Labour’s road experiments!

I am delighted to be selected as a @Conservatives candidate in Canning Town. Canning Town has so much going for it. We have some of the city’s best nightlife venues, have a truly unique heritage through the docklands, have great local parks and businesses, are a stone’s throw from world class sport, have great food you can get from all over the world - and we are so well connected to our excellent local airport, Canary Wharf, the City and Essex. But Canning Town cannot truly thrive - and is held back by a lack of ambition, rising rents, rising taxes, a bigotry of low expectations and a Labour Party that has run this council almost continuously since the 1960s. The rise in antisemitism is abhorrent. In Golders Green, Jewish residents spoke of a growing sense of fear in their community. That’s intolerable. No one in Britain should feel unsafe because of their faith. The Conservative Party stands with the Jewish community and always will.

ÇA Y EST A wrap on Tory Party Conference this year. Professional pictures to come - but I just wanted to say a few thank yous. This was our biggest conference ever, the most events we've ever hosted, the most output we've ever done and we raised tens of thousands in donations. Our events all sold out, filled every room (perhaps too much in a few cases - it was a little warm sometimes!) and we were turning people away. We also were sponsored by two incredible brands, Whitley Neill Gin and Dead Man's Fingers. Thank you all. @PegasusPrince2 did a fantastic job of covering our entire week - his agency @StormGlideUK are fab, so do hire him if you need creative and media. So on Saturday, we kicked things off with the Annual LGBT+ Conservatives' Curry - "50 Years and Still Proud" - which celebrated five decades of our organisation. I would like to thank our new Vice-Chair for Membership @SJRH03, who gave his first ever speech in the role at an event - showcasing the renewal in the party and the new talent that is coming through the ranks. He warmed up for the effervescent Deputy Chairman of the Party, @Matt_VickersMP - who gave a positively barnstorming speech and thanked the organisation for all it has done. He also applauded us on our 151% increase in membership. It was also a delight to welcome so many Tory MPs and AMs, past and present, to formally start conference. We then headed to our joint social with @Blue_Beyond_ and @CYoungWomen, hosted by our Deputy Chairman @JMulhall1993, @Liv_Lever and @nikkiar. I counted well over 100 in the room - safe to say we outnumbered the Balkan Music Society social that was also taking place. Seeing @emilyhewertson on the dance floor was iconic. On Sunday, "Labour Hates Fun: How the Conservatives can save London's nightlife", hosted with @ConHome, welcomed an icon of nightlife - @Sacha_Lord - who confirmed the rumours that he is not rejoining Labour, at least for the future, and gave a brutal but honest assessment of Labour's punitive measures against the UK's hospitality sector. Joined by @CityHallTories' @emmabest22 AM, @HCH_Hill, @CLWCA's Cllr @paulswaddle OBE and the Rt. Hon. Dame @cj_dinenage DBE MP, it was a fantastic view into what is going wrong in London under Labour and how the Tories can prove its role as the party of fun and deliver for our capital city's cultural offering. Shocking revelation to hear how embedded into the anti-fun Soho Society the Westminster Labour councillors are. We then headed to the @THTorguk Reception - now a tradition and crucial element of the conference agenda. A moving evening of uplifting speeches from our Vice-Chair for Outreach @CllrABClarkson, the Rt. Hon. Dame @PennyMordaunt DBE, the Rt. Hon. @StuartAndrew MP and @RichardAngell OBE. A reminder of the incredibly proud legacy that our party has on HIV, how the Tories really helped the UK to lead the world, how we can support Labour in finishing the job - and how we can end all new cases by 2030. It can be done. So let's do it, without a vaccine and without a cure. On Monday, we then held our Pride Reception, also with @ConHome, welcoming our first ever ally member, and former HIV specialist @DrBenSpencer MP, @anguswyatt, @emmabest22 AM, Jamie Mulhall and the @ccacllrs' Cllr @john_cope. On Tuesday, we then teamed up with the lovely people at @BritainLeads for "No One Left Behind", which explored key issues in ending HIV both here and globally, which welcomed a stalwart of the party and organisation, @andrewboff AM, @sophie_mzy, @MichaelPodmore, @DrBenSpencer MP and Melanie Scagliarini for a thought provoking talk on how the UK can achieve net zero new cases in a world where cases are rising - as well as the implications of migration, PEPFAR cuts and the impact of COVID. Then - of course - it was the Closing Party. With about 1,100 punters, spending £27,000 in just a few hours, we held the best party to see off conference. With most of the parliamentary party in attendance, it was chaotic and as fun as always - with quite the DJ set from the Rt. Hon. @RobertJenrick MP, the Rt. Hon. @morton_wendy MP and @mimsdavies MP. When I say DJ, these guys actually DJed. Mims was on for most of the night and brought the party - it was incredible. Thank you to my team, @ndmorley, @owenlmeredith, @marcgoldfinger_, @sarahfree01, @louiscnorth, @albieamankona, @DrDavidJeffery, @GeorgeJBWright - and to Elena who kept us all moving all weekend. I would also like to thank @sarakumartweets, @katiehwclark and @_ellieevelyn for all their help in ensuring our events ran smoothly this week from their respective organisations. Thank you to the @CityHallTories Team Aaron and @bradley_fage for their support with the AMs. And you! Thank you - the party - for coming to our events. This will be my final year as Chairman, so next year I will attending these as a member, just like you. See you next year.
