Some good metrics for knowing if you're a D1 pitching prospect in high school...
-RHP - velocity over 87 (not topping out, most pitches at 87+)
-LHP - velocity over 84 (not topping out, most pitches at 84+)
-Striking out more than a batter/inning
-3:1 K/BB ratio
-Opponent batting average under .240
There are no absolutes in baseball, but these are pretty common metrics for the players I've coached over the past 20 years that went D1 out of high school.

Will Muschamp’s shirt … NT=NP
No thud = no play
He said it’s a very important message to him. If you don’t thud in practice, you’re not going to be a good tackler and you’ll be watching the games from the sideline or at home.

Dan Hurley on the two personas every head coach must master:
The Jockey 🏇, and the Corner Man. 🥊
In practice — you are the jockey. You push. You challenge. You demand more than they think they have. You stretch them past comfort so execution becomes inevitable.
On game night — you become the corner man. You steady. You simplify. You remind them who they are. Confidence replaces correction.
Preparation is where you build them.
Performance is where you believe in them.

“We’re on these guys. We stress them in practice. We put a lot of pressure on them on a daily basis to do the right things, to do everything hard, to do everything tough, to be prepared because that’s what it takes to win a game like this,” Dan Hurley
The fearless heart of relentless competitors has no fear.

UCONN HC Dan Hurley - Leadership & Culture
- "Leadership and culture have never been more important."
- "Your culture better be on point, your leadership better be on point, you better be the driving force behind your organization every day that you step foot in to that building. And you better set the tone. You better be a tone setter every single day of what you want to reflect in your culture."
- "I keep my players happy because they know that there is very few places in the country, if any, where they're going to get the same level of commitment in terms of time & effort that's going to be in to their career, skill development & personal development."
- "And they know that every day that they're on campus in Storrs CT... That full staff is in the office and we're working towards making them better. I'm not out playing golf in June... I'm in the gym with them, I'm in the weight room with them, I'm in the office with them."
- "I want my players to feel like they're not going to get better service than they're going to get from our staff. And they literally see a person that is trying to kill themselves on the job to help them reach their dreams and goals."

Your look at new Syracuse DC Vince Kehres, coaching the LBs through a sled pad drill. His former Toledo LB Chris D’Appolonia demonstrates.
