Constitutional matters call for a united approach. Anyone defending the document should be your friend. The owners of this document are ordinary Zimbabweans not a few 100s in parliament and certainly not ED. Speak up and defend our constitution.

Shame on you, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa. Shame on ZANU-PF. Shame on the Zimbabwe Republic Police. Why are armed officers — with rifles and police dogs — deployed outside the offices of Tendai Biti? What crime has been committed? What law has been broken? Or is the real “offence” the defence of the Constitution? You claim Zimbabwe is a constitutional democracy. Yet when citizens organise peacefully to oppose your proposed constitutional amendments, you respond with intimidation, armed patrols and fear tactics. Is this what you call governance? Is this your version of democracy? If you were truly confident in your leadership and in the mandate you claim from 2018 and 2023, you would not fear meetings in private offices. You would not deploy armed police against lawyers and constitutional defenders. You would not treat dissent as rebellion. The Constitution is not your personal property. It does not belong to ZANU-PF. It does not belong to State House. It belongs to the people of Zimbabwe. Deploying armed police to block a political leader from exercising his constitutional rights exposes one thing — insecurity. It exposes fear. It exposes a leadership that knows it cannot win the battle of ideas, so it resorts to force. You were elected to protect the Constitution, not manipulate it. You were entrusted with power, not given ownership of the Republic. Zimbabwe is not a one-party state. It is not a military cantonment. It is not a private estate. If peaceful political assembly now requires armed surveillance, then what you are protecting is not democracy — it is power. History is watching. Zimbabweans are watching. The world is watching. And no deployment of rifles or police dogs will silence the demand for constitutional integrity and political freedom. @ZANUPF_Official @nickmangwana @edmnangagwa @ZHRO @SouthendCcc @LynneStactia @ChangeRadioZW @amnesty_zim @TheMirrorMsv @NewsHawksLive @Independent @ParliamentZim @Paultheactivist @zanupf_patriots @ali_naka @advocatemahere @JobSikhala1 @BitiTendai @adv_fulcrum @ChibayaaCitizen @daddyhope @bbmhlanga @MacBelts @JamesonTimba @Plaxedes547383 @DavidColtart @ChildOfZimbabwe @ZRP_Zim @JoyMafs @ARTUZ_teachers @Varakashi4edW @CrimeWatchZW @Varakashi4ED @oczmk @ZanuPFMabvuku @ChinamasaPA @ZimTreasury @BaShonaBaShona @MOTHI_ZIMBABWE @SADC_News @cdfzim @DCPlatform25 @agencygumbo @dandaro_online

🚨The Constitutional Defenders Forum (CDF), convened by Tendai Biti, strongly rejected attempts to change the constitution last week. Today, the police swamped their offices. Everyone has a right to freedom of expression and any intimidation by the police must be condemned.

🚨The office belonging to Tendai Biti, the former Finance Minister and convener of the Constitutional Defense Forum (CDF), was surrounded by police earlier today.

While police officers were camped at the offices of our CDF Convener, Tendai Biti, we can confirm that he was not at the premises. At the time, the Convener was in Sanyati attending the burial of Cde Geza @BlessedGeza, paying his respects alongside other mourners. It appears the operation was based on flawed or misleading information. Such actions not only waste public resources but also raise serious questions about the motives behind these repeated attempts at intimidation. CDF reiterates that lawful civic engagement is not a crime. We remain calm, vigilant and focused on our constitutional mandate. Rest in Peace 🕊️ Cde Bombshell Geza. JUST IN | The ZRP have deployed armed officers, including police dogs, outside Tendai Biti’s offices in Milton Park. Biti is the leader of the Constitution Defenders Forum, a group that is opposing proposed constitutional changes that could allow President Mnangagwa to remain in office beyond 2030. It is not yet clear why the police are stationed outside his offices. @PoliceZimbabwe, any comment? 📸@cdfzim

The news that former Zimbabwean finance minister and convenor of the Constitutional Defence Forum, CDF, Tendai Biti’s offices have been surrounded by Zimbabwe’s police is tragic, but expected. Biti’s CDF is opposed to the mutilation of Zimbabwe’s Constitution and the extension of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term. After Biti’s press conference on Friday, the state has moved in on his offices. It clearly shows that the regime is acting outside the law in its attempt to rewrite the Constitution. Deploying state security apparatus to shut down voices opposed to its agenda is not only oppressive, it is a direct assault on the Constitution itself. It is unlawful, unjustifiable, and exposes the regime’s fear of scrutiny. If its agenda is legal and constitutional, why is it terrified of open dialogue?

Following the police siege at the offices of CDF Convener, Tendai Biti @BitiTendai, it is clear that the regime has been rattled by his press conference on Friday exposing the dangers of the proposed constitutional amendments. Information reaching the CDF Intelligence Desk indicates that police action may have been triggered by claims that the Convener intends to hold a series of meetings with key political stakeholders. If true, this confirms a disturbing pattern, the criminalisation of dialogue, consultation and democratic engagement. We strongly condemn this cowardly attempt at intimidation. Meeting citizens and political actors is not a crime. Consultation is not subversion. Engagement is not treason. Zimbabwe is a constitutional democracy. Law enforcement must not be weaponised to silence lawful political activity. CDF remains calm, resolute and unwavering in the defence of constitutional order. Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers have camped outside Tendai Biti’s offices in Milton Park in Harare. Biti, the convener of the Constitution Defenders Forum, has been a vocal critic of proposed constitutional amendments that could pave the way for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to extend his stay in office beyond the current constitutional term limits.

We mourn with the progressive world , the tragic loss of Comrade Bombshell Geza. He sacrificed his young life for the decolonization and liberation of Zimbabwe . He was a true soldier on the front , unlike others who were carousing and loafing in the frontline capitals of Lusaka , Maputo and Dar. His feats on the battlefield are a dense implosion of heroic mythology. He fought with dexterity , without fear and without restraint . One day they will make a movie of his legendary battlefield exploits . Yet they betrayed him. The revolution was hijaked . It ate its children Post independent Zimbabwe was a massive assault on the ideals and values of the liberation struggle . The values and ideals of Ubuntu solidarity equality socialism were replaced by vampirism rottonness greed and banditry . It took him long to open his eyes . It took him to understand that yesterday s liberator was now today s oppressor . But he did open his eyes . He came to know that the revolution was unfinished. He came to know that the struggle had been sold to highest bidders in the form of foreign capital , cartels and syndicates . In his last days he fought against corruption banditry , the privatization & capture of the Zimbabwe State . He fought against the brutal dictatorship masculatuon of the National Constitution. In his last years he understood what we of the post independent democratic order had been fighting against . What our movement has been all about - completing the unfinished business of the liberation struggle . In those moments history conspired to make him the face of the present struggle . History made him carry a battle that was not his but that of his grand children . In those months he boldly stood out against an emboldened clueless but vicious kakistocracy that had no shame , no morality and no elasticity . He knew the odds against him.He knew the limitations of his actions. He knew of the vicious overreaction from his erstwhile colleagues. He knew they would hound him out like a sewer rat and would not hesitate to terminate him. That’s their DNA. But he sacrificed himsef. In doing so he he knew the spark he was lighting . He knew of the seed he was planting. He knew of the disruptive role his was playing . For this we thank him . For this , we shall always remember him as the comrade who shamed younger generations to become the stalwart against a sordid and heinous status quo of loot and plunder We shall never be able to fill his big shoes but we vow to do justice to his memory by continuing his fight against constitutional manipulation and the attempt to create a kleptocratic dynasty . As the regime moves swiftly to gazette a constitutional bill that will bastardize our constitution by extending Mr Mnangagwa s rule to 2030 , allow Parliament to elect a President and push elections to 2035 , we want to assure Bombshell , that we will stand on his broad shoulders to resist and refuse this rank madness. We will defend the constitution for that’s all we have. That is all Bombshell had. That is what he fought for . First a new constitutional order that gave self governance and dignity to the native . Later a new constitutional order that sought to create an inclusive democratic status quo that took away power from a corrupt elite constitional order created by his canterkerous colleagues So as we bid Bombshell farewell , we commit ourselves to completing the unfinished chapter on his life. Defending the constitution of Zimbabwe against mauraders brigands and bandits . This is the least we can do . Go well Bombshell Go well .

Constitution Defenders Forum
CDF STATEMENT ON LEAKED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT PROPOSALS: The Constitution Defenders Forum (CDF) expresses grave concern over leaked proposals reportedly authored by Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, which he is expected to present to Cabinet during its first sitting of the year today. If confirmed, these proposals amount to a systematic and dangerous mutilation of the 2013 Constitution, representing a direct assault on the people’s will as expressed through a national referendum. Key Proposed Amendments and Their Implications The reported proposals include: 1. Parliament electing the President Extension of the Presidential term to 7 years 2. Presidential appointment of 10 Senators 3. Transfer of the voters’ roll to the Registrar-General 4. Removal of delimitation from ZEC through a new commission 5. Scrapping public interviews for judicial appointments 6. Weakening the Defence Forces’ constitutional duty by removing the obligation to uphold the Constitution 7. Abolition of the Gender Commission Taken together, these proposals: *Concentrate power in the Executive. *Weaken electoral integrity. *Undermine judicial independence. *Erode civilian oversight of the security sector. *Roll back hard-won gender equality protections. *Strip citizens of democratic participation. This is not reform. It is constitutional regression. Zimbabwe at a Crossroads Zimbabwe now stands at a historic crossroads. These proposals signal a shift away from constitutional democracy toward executive dominance and rule by decree. They represent a clear violation of the spirit, letter and intent of the 2013 Constitution, which was authored and approved by the people of Zimbabwe. The Constitution is not a political inconvenience. It is a social contract. CDF Position CDF: Rejects in the strongest terms any attempt to undermine or rewrite the Constitution for political expediency Reaffirms that sovereignty belongs to the people, not to Cabinet, Parliament or the Presidency Declares that defending the Constitution is a national, non-partisan duty CDF is fully prepared, organisationally and civically, to mobilise peaceful, lawful and sustained resistance to any unconstitutional process. Call to Action CDF calls upon: Members of Parliament across the political divide, ruling party and opposition alike, to demonstrate loyalty to the people who elected them, not to party interests Zimbabwean citizens to remain alert, informed and united Regional and international partners to take note of this impending constitutional mutilation and to stand with the people of Zimbabwe in defence of democratic norms High Alert CDF places all Defenders and Zimbabweans at large on HIGH CONSTITUTIONAL ALERT. Moments of crisis demand vigilance, unity and courage. The Constitution must be defended. The people’s will must prevail. Bumbiro Usabata! Bumbiro Chinhu Chedu. Signed: CDF Communications Desk.

This post powerfully juxtaposes the “arms of war” that authoritarian systems reach for with the “heads of argument” that actually move societies forward. What’s striking is how the criminalisation of women’s bodily autonomy has always been a low-cost control mechanism for fragile regimes: when people (especially women) cannot safely plan their families, education drops, entrepreneurial risk-taking collapses, and cycles of poverty harden. The High Court’s inclusion of mental health as grounds for abortion is therefore not just a reproductive-rights win; it’s an economic and systems-level intervention disguised as a human-rights ruling. From an AI/forecasting lens, countries that liberalise abortion access (Chile 2017, Ireland 2018, Argentina 2020) consistently see measurable drops in maternal mortality and adolescent fertility within 3–5 years, which in turn correlate with higher female labour-force participation and GDP per capita growth. Zimbabwe now has a rare opportunity to break the trap that keeps it ranked 146/190 on the World Bank’s Human Capital Index. The real threat to the regime isn’t the judgment itself; it’s the precedent that courts, not the party, can protect the cognitive and psychological bandwidth required for a nation to think, innovate and rebuild. Respect to Biti & Partners for choosing scalpel-sharp jurisprudence over the blunt instruments others want to plant. #RuleOfLaw #MentalHealthIsHealth #SystemsChange #ZimHumanRights #EconomicFreedom
