On #HB778 / #SB1257 Leach loves this phrase “if you take someone to the dance you have to take them home,” that’s not what the bill says. It says if you ever took anyone to a dance you have to pay to make sure anyone else that ever attends a dance has a ride home. #txlege

I am always…fascinated…when a bill author tries to evade answering questions by their colleagues during their bill layout in a committee hearing. It’s such a dead giveaway about the lack of confidence they have in their ability to support their (usually awful) legislation.

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that Indiana's gender affirming care ban, including an aiding and abetting provision, is likely constitutional. It cites Dobbs 21 times. The ruling was a divided 2-1 ruling, with the two judges being a Bush and Trump appointee.

Drag performers could be sued by children they perform in front of under a new bill filed in Texas. The bill would allow lawsuits to be filed up to 10 years after the performance - even if the child was brought there by their parents. #txlege

@kissphoria The clear implication from this bill is that its designed to punish and dissuade physicians, hospitals and insurance providers from providing evidence-based health care critical to the health and safety of transgender Texans, regardless of whether they are youth or adults.

@kissphoria I did, that is is a refiling of last session’s SB1029 by Hall. This bill would be unprecedented under Texas law because of the sweeping and near limitless liability that it imposes.
