@levelsio Ironic you picked IC hotels as well. I used to be a platinum ambassador but their quality has unfortunately been on th decline for years.

Honestly I think the only realistic solution to the decreasing quality of service in the West is robots I don't think even if you fix the societal problems of high cost of living (which people say is why people suck at their jobs these days, fair) that anyone will want to do these jobs anymore in the West at least When ChatGPT 4 was here I already thought it'd do a better job than 99% of people working in service jobs, imagine now With modern AI models and robotics, I think companies will be able to produce a much much better service experiences than humans I don't know if it'll be fully automated hotels, restaurants, cafes, airline service staff, or humanoid robots, or something in between Who wants a grumpy tired human if you can get a friendly humanoid helping you? Do I prefer the enshittification to stop and instead have humans? Yes I absolutely do ideally but I'm just realistic that I doubt that's going to happen in the West People doing service jobs in the West hate their jobs, people hate interacting with them because they hate their jobs, and meanwhile robots can do a 10x better job for 1000x cheaper Inevitable I think

Luxury is absolutely done in the West, it literally does not exist anymore It doesn't matter if you pay $100 or $10,000, there's no tiers of service quality anymore, not in hotels, airlines, restaurants, product quality, it's all the same level of enshittification where nobody gives a fuck about their work anymore Luxury still exists once you go to Asia though, you still get excellent service at both $100 or $10,000 levels from Thailand to China to Japan And in the Gulf states like Qatar and Dubai

Luxury is done. The quality of almost everything has gone down. No one is getting what they pay for, not even in first class.

An American buys an AVERAGE home for $653,000. She pays $5,155 a month — and $3,241 of it VANISHES into interest and taxes. Even after putting $131,000 DOWN, most payments barely touch the balance. This isn’t homeownership — it’s financial suffocation

You said on the pod you were open to universal healthcare — so we’re in sync. It’s a noble goal to give everyone the ability to visit a doctor. We should try to make it happen. It’s not going to be easy, but at some point the healthcare corruption will be stopped and entrepreneurs will innovate enough to make it possible.

Australians are so poor. We trick ourselves into thinking we’re rich because we have $1.5 million in “property equity”. But the Australian dollar is worthless. And your house isn’t an asset. Just travel to America and you’ll realise how poor we are.
