AUROC vs AUPRC: I'm working on a sepsis prediction model, and I made the baseline model last night. Results: AUROC = 0.95 🥳 AUPRC = 0.54 😔 Since the training data is highly imbalanced (~2% positive sepsis cases), AUPRC is a better evaluation metric. Unlike AUROC, which plots True Positives vs. False Positives and can be inflated by the negative class, AUPRC focuses only on the hard task: finding the 2% of positive cases. It punishes the model for every false positive it makes to find a true one.

Our medical knowledge is constantly questioned (fair enough) - just look at what your employer published during the pandemic on a grand scale.

In this case the main victim is the community, who lose access to who is arguably the most important healthcare professional in the system.

New paper out in PLOS One. As you'd expect survivors of an ICU stay have worse long-term survival than the general population, however, those >70y post-cardiac surgery have BETTER survival... Interactive survival curves on: iculongterm.com journals.plos.org/plosone/articl…
