Exclusive: Billionaire Ken Griffin is appalled that Mayor Zohran Mamdani used his 24,000-square-foot Manhattan penthouse last week as the backdrop for a tax-the-rich video, and that has triggered a subtle threat of re-evaluating investment in the city. on.wsj.com/495DhvH

No, there is no verified evidence that Ahmed Nur Said Elmi is Ilhan Omar's brother. The allegation began in 2016 on Somali-American forums based on circumstantial social media and records but has been examined by multiple fact-checkers (Snopes, PolitiFact, AP, Star Tribune). They found it unsubstantiated. Omar denies it as false and offensive. Her family's U.S. immigration documents list her siblings with no mention of Elmi.

🚨BREAKING:🚨The Trump administration is reportedly moving to REVOKE the citizenship of Democrat Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and initiate DEPORTATION proceedings to REMOVE her from our country. This is a part of their removal of temporary protection status for all Somalian illegal aliens and migrants in the state of Minnesota. The citizenship revocation proceedings against Omar are being initiated on the basis that Ilhan has committed major financial fraud, stealing millions in aid, along with immigration fraud by marrying her brother to illegally come to The United States. This woman is a radical Islamic jihadist who has always hated America and if she had it her way, we would all be living under Sharia law. SEND HER BACK. Do you agree that it’s time for Ilhan to GO? 👊🔥🇺🇸

This is Asil Assaidi, who the NYPD arrested and charged for his role in Saturday’s dangerous car meet-up. This type of chaos has no place in our city, and we'll continue to crackdown on anyone who engages in this reckless behavior.

Yes, Ilhan Omar has been married to Tim Mynett, a U.S. citizen and political consultant, since 2020. That doesn't shield her from denaturalization if the DOJ proves her original 2000 citizenship involved fraud (as alleged with her prior marriage to Ahmed Elmi). Current marriage status is irrelevant to revocation proceedings. No formal action against her has been filed yet.

Landlords threatening to call ICE on immigrant tenants is despicable behavior – and it’s also illegal tenant harassment under New York law. So I’m glad that the City Council is taking action by extending & expanding on the “Certification of No Harassment” pilot program I won back in 2017. We fought hard to hold landlords accountable through a proactive approach that put real consequences in place. Props to @PiSanchezNYC and her co-sponsors on proposing to use this tool to protect our immigrant neighbors from ICE’s reign of terror. documentedny.com/2026/04/21/nyc…

When accusations of deed theft get reported in any city there must be an immediate freeze of any eviction processes that will not proceed unless it is proven that the evictee/prev owner knowingly and willingly sold the property, and were of sound body/mind at the time of sale

This merger is bad for New Yorkers three times over. Thousands of jobs at risk here in the city. Streaming bills going up as competition disappears. And two of America’s most powerful media companies under one roof, deciding what you watch and what you hear. Today, as Warner Bros. and Paramount shareholders vote, New York City is on record: this merger should be stopped.
David Dayen@ddayen

Hollywood has organized around blocking the Paramount-Warner Brothers merger. @HaroldMeyerson writes that putting a film treasure up for sale was unwarranted and reveals the eclipse of enterprise capitalism by shareholder capitalism. prospect.org/2026/04/20/dea…

@EmilyAssembly Stop it. NYT reporting and James office's statement casts heavy doubt that it's deed theft. This is by all reporting a legal eviction that a council member exploited for a social media moment. You people are the worst.

This is horrific and wildly unacceptable. To violently arrest a Council Member for protecting an elderly woman—a victim of deed theft—from eviction is deeply disturbing. Hard to watch and not think of Dr King's 3 evils: racism, capitalism, & militarism. We're still in it.
Chi Ossé@OsseChi

Council Member Chi Ossé was just arrested while defending his constituent, Carmella Charrington, from eviction. This is the result of deed theft and the ongoing displacement of Black homeowners in Bed-Stuy. Our office is closely monitoring this situation and will provide updates as this develops.

@EmilyAssembly Lol. So you pass shitty laws that don't protect homeowners. We yell at you for yrs to fix it and you don't because the thought of helping out owners is something you can't stomach. And now it's the cop's fault? And it's the result of racism and capitalism? Go fuck yourself.

@EmilyAssembly Not hard to watch at all. Was not violent and nypd should be commended for preventing a riot. The group was within their right to protest but they crossed a line which is fine but the consequence for that is arrest with the benefit of a PR win demonizing the police.

Honest question for the masses… Donald Trump was dragged through the mud for an accounting error. They treated him like he was a bonafide thief, robber, and scallywag over it. Ilhan Omar was worth tens of millions of dollars, but then had her own “accounting error” trying to show she isn’t. Is she going to be subject to the same scrutiny, investigations, and trials? I mean, we apply the law equally to all people, right? I’m just asking questions…
