Popular Nigerian activist Justice Crack, whose real name is Mark Chidiebere Justice, has been reported missing. He has not been seen since Tuesday, April 28, when he was last spotted around noon at the NAOWA Shopping Complex in Asokoro, Abuja. Since then, his phone has been switched off and all efforts to reach him have been unsuccessful. His wife first raised the alarm, while fellow activists, including Mr. Commonsense and Official Gana, have called for public help in locating him. Before his disappearance, Justice Crack had been posting videos criticising the welfare of soldiers and speaking on the alleged killing of an NYSC member by soldiers in Abuja. The military has reportedly denied holding him. As of now, his whereabouts remain unknown. This is a developing story. Anyone with information should contact his family or the police immediately. If you are an advocate for a better Nigeria, don’t allow this kind of news make you fear. It should rather motivate you to fire up. For me, fear died in 2019. The life I live now is a borrowed one. One day the director of the hospital ( not even the main owner ) the doctor they asked to manager the hospital. The doctor called her one morning and asked her to stop attending OPM church and she asked him why, but he has no reason. So my daughter replied him, SORRY I CANT STOP OPM. He immediately gave her a sack letter. On Sunday she reported the case to me. So I instructed my CSO who is also a retired senior police officer and another staff to accompany her to her office. Let's be clear: The claim by the chairman of @officialEFCC labelling 60% of students in #Nigeria's tertiary universities as criminals is plainly irresponsible & unconscionable. It is not law enforcement. 1st, it is outside the statutory responsibility of the #EFCC to profile a demographic or social group by reason of or with reference to their station in life. #Nigeria's constitution actually prohibits that. 2nd, it is already difficult enough to be young in Nigeria at this time without having to deal with being officially labelled as expendable by the authority of the Chairman of the EFCC. 3rd, the EFCC was established to go after high profile criminals & #PoliticallyExposedPersons who have designs on Nigeria's patrimony. Those are not students. They are politicians & in pursuit of that species, the record of the EFCC is - at best - abysmal. The only political rogues whom the EFCC is able or willing to pursue are those who are in opposition. Even in that, it mostly has worse than a patchy record. Those of them in the ruling party are patrons of the EFCC. 4th, the EFCC has not provided proof that its claim against or about students is founded on any study or survey that can stand the test of minimal methodological rigour. If it had, then the thing to do would be to make that report public so that its claims can be assessed with due regard to its methods. Above all, even assuming that the EFCC has undertaken a rigorous study to inform this claim, it amounts to an irresponsible waste of public resources to focus on or prioritise students over & above the politicians who have kidnapped Nigeria & hold its citizens & communities hostage to sovereign ransom. It will be interesting to see the EFCC's study on what proportion of Nigerian politicians are involved in criminal pillage or, in fact, what proportion of civil servants or even judges & magistrates are thieves. Until the EFCC Chairman can produce such studies, his attempt to criminalise Nigeria's young people, especially students, must assume its pitiful place in a disreputable pantheon. The Chairman of @officialEFCC has not yet made good on his promise to bring @OfficialGYBKogi to account. He is still unable to comply with the order of @SupremeCourtNg to ensure the retrial of @OUKtweets. The Commission seems congenitally wired to fail in bringing every senior politician to account, including those caught with their hands in the proverbial cookie jar. The EFCC should not be this idle or distracted. Extrajudicial Killing in Effurun The extrajudicial killing of a young Nigerian Mr. Mene Ogidi, in Effurun, Delta State, by a police officer, is not only barbaric but also a grave violation of the rule of law. Over time, human society has moved away from an era when lives could be taken without consequence. Through the evolution of civilisation, a fundamental principle has emerged: no one should be punished or deprived of life without due process and a fair determination of guilt. Such acts inflict unimaginable trauma on the bereaved family and deepen public anxiety in an already distressed society. Nigerians are already traumatised by recurring reports of brutal killings by terror organisations across the country, and incidents of this nature - especially when involving state actors - only worsen that psychological burden and erode public confidence in safety and security. In light of this, while the law must take its full course, I commend the prompt response of the police authorities so far and express confidence that they will pursue this matter to its logical conclusion. Such responsiveness is necessary to reassure the public that justice will not be compromised. I therefore urge the police and all security agencies to sustain this approach by acting with transparency and accountability. Furthermore, recruitment processes must be more rigorous, ensuring that only individuals of sound judgment and the right frame of mind are entrusted with firearms. In the final analysis, these measures can restore public trust and uphold justice - both of which are indispensable to building a new Nigeria that is possible. -PO
