this is actually incredible a full body ultrasound scanner that takes 60 seconds instead of spending an hour in an MRI tube, without radiation, hospitals or a $2000 bill soon you’ll just walk into a health spa, order a coffee, step into the pod, and walk out with a 3D map of your body the future is finally starting to look like the future

and ultrasound can also be used to precisely target tissue which means that the line between imaging and treatment is starting to get very interesting scan, map the body, find any issue, stimulate, ablate, modulate, or repair with sound

A full body ultrasound is not a magic replacement for an MRI. It cannot see into your skull, past lungs, intestines and bones. I’m not saying it’s useless: you’ll be able to track cysts, tumors, organ abnormalities etc, so long as they’re in soft tissue near the surface of your body.

@IterIntellectus Where did you get that it’s not going to cost you $2k? And you’re going to be immersed in goo - ultrasound needs a liquid medium to travel through (do I guess no head scans?)

@IterIntellectus newer MRI machines can do the full torso scan in 5 minutes. but yes the machines are super expensive and you do need technicians to run them and doctor-radiologists to assess the scans.

@IterIntellectus You need new trained doctors, technicians and science-based evidence of their accuracy/reliability to even consider using one of those. So you'll probably never actually see kne of those 💁‍♂️

@IterIntellectus An hour in an MRI tube? I've had over 10 MRIs in the last 5 years (cancer survivor), takes like 10-15 mins tops. Unless you're counting the time it takes for the radioactive glucose they inject into you to go through the body

@IterIntellectus Why do you think it wont be an even bigger bill? The convenience and speed will carry a premium because hospitals/care centers are bloated, debt instruments that want patients to experience as much pain in their bank account as possible.

@IterIntellectus @grok the poster a known exaggeration and truth distorter is that this will bill you available soon? How soon might this be regulatory approved? And if it's not soon what kind of ramifications will occur to this posters already tarnished reputation?

@IterIntellectus but grok says MJ plans to operate their own spas and not sell the units to doctors/hospitals/clinics, which makes it a MJ money grab and unlikely to be approved in other countries. i hope other competitors make similar units that can be sold to doctors/hospitals/clinics

@IterIntellectus this is the part everyone's missing. the win was never one fancy scan, it's cheap continuous imaging, because a baseline plus a time series is how you catch the thing that kills you while it's still 2mm and beatable, and early detection is the highest leverage medicine there is

@IterIntellectus Man oh man, I hope @NIH gets these! I hate spending 5 hours of my life getting MRIs every 2 years for the BAP1 mutation study I’m in there.

@IterIntellectus Well, not in Britain as the NHS would never buy or install these - the consultation process alone would cost billions... 🙄

@IterIntellectus @almostjingo Looks fuzzy. Not sure. For quick indications at ER visits but they already do CT and not MRI. They’ll probably just increase the cost of ER visits.

@IterIntellectus Lol. MRI has no radiation. This will likely not provide the needed detail for meaningful findings. So no, not “incredible”

@IterIntellectus It's using shitty AI for data processing. I doubt it will be accurate enough for anything useful.

@IterIntellectus When people ask "in the future what will we look back on and think was horrendous?" My answer is often surgery. It's going to seem absolutely barbaric compared to what we will have.

@IterIntellectus InB4 midjourney gets bought out by pfizer or moderna or eli lily and then you'll not only pay more than 2000+, you'll need 10+ prior auths and have to join an annual wait list to see if you get picked to participate in the bi-annual lottery selection program
